Samsung announced their world’s first 3-inch 640 x 480 LCD display for digital cameras. It features 260,000 colors, 350:1 contrast ratio, and 300 cd/m2 brightness. Digital camera makers use an interface known as ITU-R601, an international standard for cathode ray tube (CRT) TVs that operates at 30Hz which is incompatible with LCDs that normally run at 60Hz. Samsung’s new LCD operates on 30Hz which allows VGA images to be transferred from a digital camera without having to create another interface.
