Sharp released World’s Thinnest Camera module for Mobile Phones

Sharp Corporation has developed the world’s thinnest camera module for mobile phones, the 2,000,000-pixel auto-focus CMOS camera module which measures only 1/4 –inch, code name LZ0P39DS. It is the industry’s most compact and thinnest module, which is a demand for use in compact portable device like the high-end mobile phones today.

This CMOS camera module is built based on Sharp high-density design technology with improved optical system design and greater precision in molding components combine to reduce the vertical profile of the unit, resulting in the industry’s thinnest auto focusing mechanism at only 5.0mm thick. Additional, the LZ0P39DS also supports full-motion video capture at 15 frames per second (fps) which will allows you to record a smooth video.

The Sharp LZ0P39DS camera will be ship starting July 2007.
