Nissan's "paramagnetic" paint coating – Color Changing Paint for Cars

November 13th, 2007

Do you wish to have a car that can change color? Get bored with white then change it to black instantly. Nissan got it. Nissan has developed a “paramagnetic” paint coating, which is a unique polymer layer that features iron oxide particles that are applied to the vehicle’s body. With this coating, you can just change the color of the car by flicking a switch.

The company also developed a self-healing “Scratch Guard Coat” to apply vehicle paint. With this self-healing coating, vehicles are nearly impervious to superficial scratches caused by carwash brushes, fingernails or other minor surface scratches. The scratches will be healed within one to a week depending on how bad is the scratch.

Nissan is still working on this paramagnetic paint and hopes to have it on production vehicles by 2010.

What a great way to evade policemen when you happen to commit a traffic violation. This technological breakthrough is something that Nissan can be damn proud of.
