As far as it being attractive to kids, kids are attracted to everything, no matter the color. Kids don’t play with just guns that are pink. And most kids that wind up having an incident are ignorant of guns, they have not been taught about them. You hardly hear of a kid that has hunted all his life have an incident with a gun.

Nice Job! Looks like the Rio Salado range in the background, is it? I work up the road designing future M72s and the prototypes came out black and pink. Not quite Marine-ready, but they wee just prototypes, right? 66mm isn’t really long range, but it’s damage is awesome.

Yes it is pretty to show off but lets be realistic… you want the pink to stand out because obviously you’re not worried about a sniper (we come across so many of those in America), and you want people to notice it and say, “Hey look at that rifle! That’s crazy (cool or dumb depending on the person’s opinion)!” Some people take guns too seriously. It’s a fun novelty item that’s meant to get attention, which this type of gun art definitely has. AR-15′s are super accurate if you know what your doing, so pink rifle or not, I wouldn’t want to be at the other end of the range with that badass girl loaded up. I’d love to check one out in person. Probably not what I’d do to my $2000 colt AR-15, but maybe a cheapy bushmaster for my future daughter. She can show it to her boyfriends (Feb 7, ’09 post).

Well, Killjoy Mac. Some people spend ridiculous amounts of money on suped up cars, interior decor, or comic books. So what if someone spends a shot loud to paint a gun hello kitty pink. That grip lets you retain the regular magazine release push button. With the regular pistol grip, you need to install a “bullet button” for the mag release. It requires a tool (Bullet tip) to release the magazine. With the grip she has, she is holding it like a hunting rifle. Bypassing the assulat rifle status.

I’m amazed these pics and this rifle are still generating new internet buzz. I usually keep this at the shop and get requests all the time to bring it out so customers can hold it and take photos with it. It no longer has the California MonsterMan grip on it. It now sports a Magpul MOE grip (painted pink of course) and a bullet button. Yes, it’s still neutered for CA compliance.

To “Mac” commenting on it being a “waste of money”, it was only a few hundred dollars to paint it, my wife loves it, and yes it was totally worth it.

To “Wolverine” going on about how it makes one “stand out a mile away” and vulnerable to a sniper, and underpowered, etc… – seriously dude, it’s just a fun toy for the wife and the range. I’ll be sure to bring my black rifles when I join the “Red Dawn” insurgency.

Actually I think the entire point was a girl getting to express herself through her weaponry.Maybe her husband bought it for her to help get her into shooting so they could spend more time together. Exactly, i couldnt have said it better…..im an avid gun owner and while of course its not my taste because im male certainly dont have a problem with someone especially a female having an ar in any damn color she wants. Not every gun that americans own is intended for tactical combat. Have you people forgot about sport shooting or just plain out shooting for fun? Im sure she doesnt have to worry about snipers on the range. I think its great to have the right to spend YOUR money the way YOU want. As far as child safety is concerned any responsible gun owner would never leave a loaded firearm in the reach of an uneducated child anyway so its not much of an issue. It is illegal to paint a real gun to look like a toy, or a toy to look like a real gun- for obvious reasons. I love this customization! I’m an 18 y.o. female shooter, and really enjoy blowing away the guys at our range. Doing it with a Pink AR-15 would just be that much better =) (Even though I think a nice neon zebra print would be more suited to my personality…)
And as for the buzz about this looking like a toy, all I can say is that any responsible gun owner with children would know how to keep his household safe. I grew up around guns and lo and behold, I am alive and well.

Accualy army cook, its not an assult rifle. no civilain weapon (manufactured after 1986) is an assult rifle. On one the reqiurements to be an assult rifle, is for it to have selectable mode of firing. (i.e. Semi, burst, auto). Since automatic fire weapons are illegal. The techinacal classification for a semi auto AR 15 is “Title 1 rifle”
(18 USC 921 (a)(7))

An AR-15 is not an assault rifle. It would have to have the capabililty to be selct-fire between automatic and semi-automatic. Which it does not, it is semi-automatic like any other sporting rifle. AR in AR-15 stands for Armalite Rifle, not Assault Rifle.

Other than that, I think the rifle is awesome.

Why is it stupid?  It is promoting guns up to an entire new group of customers (I mean women not children lol).  Women are picking up guns more than ever now and I personally think it’s great!  (Safety first of course).  I like it.  I don’t particularly care for pink, but I’d get it over freaking camo paint or whatever the hell else.  I’m a woman.  I like guns.  I like to spend money on them.  So why not cater to my preferences a little?  I think it’s an excellent idea from someone who obviously knows good business and knows how to please the customer instead of getting hung up on the traditional way of doing things.

You are a moron. its an Assault rifle. and semi automatic weapon sporting the capability to carry in excess of 20 rounds in a single magazine is an assault rifle. Armalite is a company, not a catagory of weapon. Do some research and undumb your self.

WOW! I never thought I could be so disgusted by the sight of an AR. Guns are in a man’s world. This is just a weak attempt for women to imprint their flashy designs and fashion sense on a damn gun. So horrible.

If I was at the range and I seen a women shooting this rifle I would chat her up.
She’s obviously into shooting, which I like in a woman, she’s attractive (doesn’t hurt)
and she knows what she wants her weapon to look like. Pink, Purple, Red, or Black

 Stupid? Moron? The last time I checked this was America and it is legal to do what you want with your personal property as long as it doesn’t interfere with the rights of others. That may have changed by now but that is why I have several weapons… just in case some of you want to try to tell me what I should and shouldn’t do. As for dressing guns up to look like toys. It is a bad idea for the people out there that have decided to abdicate their parental responsibilities to the government. For those of us that want to teach our own kids right and wrong, I do not see a problem.

The “AR” designation comes from the name of the company that produced the firearm – Armalite.

It is a common misconception that it stands for “assault rifle.”

Every rifle that Armalite sold had the “AR” designation including the AR-7 survival rifle and single shot rifles.Looks like YOU need to “undumb yourself”.
Look closely and you will see that is made to be California Compliant, fixed stock, non-pistol grip.
According to the state it is in, it is not an “Assault Rifle”

the AR stands for armalite not assault rifle and the ar-15  is not an assault rifle. look it up moron. An assault rifle is selectible between fully and semi auto.
