The Department of Technological Studies at Ohio Northern University has created this ice cream serving robot. It is a part of an extracurricular activity for ONU’s homecoming festivities. They are 26 students working on this project and they completed it at 5 weeks time under the direction of Dr.Adam Stienecker and Professor Rich Miller. The objective is to create a system that would automatically serve ice cream to customer with a selected topping as well as deliver a spoon. It involved mechanical and electrical design so as software development using two industrial robots, a PLC, a vision system, a touch panel and of course an ice cream machine.
