Joining the military has never been so much fun!

Every year, a large sum of tax payers funded money is spent into military funding. Often then not, these funding includes huge and dull screens that are static and does not include any form of hard exercise. So now, the Army in the States is trying out a more immersive approach with a new training helmet that allows trainees to progress around in a virtual environment ala “Counter Strike” style. James Bond’s painting is up for sale!

James Bond painting is up for sale!

This doesn’t seemed to be what common civilians would really need, unless you do have a friend that really annoys you with his/her nonstop texting habit. Then this little ugly painting might just be what you really need in your living room.

Dub the Painting Cell Phone Jammer, this somewhat generic piece of so-called art does more than just sit there and increase your house’s luxury points by few. It also comes with frequency blockers, which allows you to block specific cell phone frequencies, either on full mode, or just for a moment. All this can be done with a niche remote, allowing you to be rather inconspicuous about things. At $150, this expensive and yet ugly piece of art works in an 80-metre radius. Finally you can be part of the Secret Service! Though I can assume other evil bosses will also love this ugly painting for some other reasons.

Starcraft II beta ending – Let’s get ready for RETAIL!

Blizzard has announced over that their forum that the first phase of the Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty beta test will close down its curtains on Memorial Day, 31st May 2010. Follow up will be the second and final phase. In between, the Starcraft II team will be optimizing the game’s hardware and software to edge up on performances and bugs.

“We plan to bring the beta test back online for a couple of weeks prior to the game’s launch to complete our testing,” Blizzard said.

“We’ll have more details to share about when this final beta-testing phase will begin at a later date. We’d like to thank all of our beta-test participants for your enthusiasm, dedication, and valuable feedback during the beta test, and we look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on the Starcraft II beta test as the game’s July 27 launch approaches.”

Meanwhile, tickets for BlizzCon 2010 will commence on Wednesday, June 2 (7pm PST) followed by the second wave Saturday, June 5 (10am PST). The convention will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of October at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Well, be prepared to fork out a painful $150 USD per tic, before forking out a hefty for the retail game again on July. Poor gamers may rejoice however, as there’s also the DIRECTV subscription for you to watch at the sidelines for $39.95 Pay Per View package, or $39.95 for the multi-channel Internet stream which allows you to switch between multiple panels of coverage of the show. Blizzard also mentioned that BlizzCon 2010’s ticket may be purchased through Battle.net account.

Next PSP is a mini PS3?

Next PSP is a mini PS3?

It appears that Sony would be showing off another new version of PSP (PlayStation Portable) at E3 this year.

VG247 quoted a source on saying that there’s a small chance that we will see a new PSP being displayed at E3 this year. Rumors has it that the new PSP2 NDAs have been in possession of a few UK publishers for months now, but though their initial plans were for a 2010 release, it seemed more likely to be released in 2011. Therefore people are expecting the announcement on either a Gamescom or Tokyo Game Show.

Rumored features are like multitouch touchscreen OLED yet retaining the good ol` PlayStation buttons at the sides. VG247 was told the device is “uber powerful,” and is based on a four-core Cell CPU, similar to those used in a PS3. Another said he/she would be “amazed” if there was any physical media involved and VG247 reports hearing sketchy rumors that this device could be 3G and WiFi enabled as opposed to the WiFi-only PSPGo.

“There have been “finished units” in the UK, but we haven’t spoken to anyone that’s seen a final case. – VG247”
