What the?!? Its War Machine!!!

May 20th, 2010

What the?!? Its War Machine!!!Don’t we all go crazy if we were able to buy a mask exactly like Iron Man in the movie, with the glowing lights and computerized HUD in the helmet? When it comes to Iron Man and Iron Man 2, all man, and some women, will turn into kids screaming like babies. There’s a little bit of suit envy in us all. How cool would it be to have one of those suits? Isn’t that dream bizarre?

Well, one nut head Iron Man fan had set up on making his dreams come true. He may not be able to fly or bring about world peace by single-handedly fighting off the bad guys of the world, but he does seemed to be the coolest guy in the block.

How about our in-house Windows 7 fry noodle?

Remember the Window 7 Whooper back in Japan that made headlines worldwide and many nerds go banzai? It was Burger King that took the hype of Window 7 launching to its full advantage, and made a similar style of promotion just like the usual franchising that advertise food themed with blockbuster movies.

Now there’s a new trend in town! Microsoft Taiwan has teamed up with a local Taiwanese seafood restaurant to serve seven unique dishes focusing on Window 7 theme. This will be a limited two-month period menu, “Micgadget reports that you can only get a taste of one dish per day”. Well, just in time for next month’s Computex! We’ll see you there! Read more…

Electric Transit Backpack lets you fly around city

Electric Transit Backpack lets you fly around city

Looks like someone wants us to fly above the rest of the traffic as part of a urban way of transportation, which I wonder whether can really reduce traffic jams, though it’s a really odd concept to begin with.

The idea, which belongs to a Bulgarian architect Martin Angelov, was recently exhibited at the TEDx conference in Thessaloniki. His concept consist of of two parts, a network of taut steel wires strung all over the city and a personal backpack harness system consisting of harness, a battery bag, and a light engine that runs on the Kolelinia wire mechanism. The Hotmail is back, and its HOT!

Hotmail is back

Well that’s what Microsoft hopes for, at least. Microsoft will be launching new features to their classic Hotmail which it overhauled lately, and with it hoping to overtake Google’s Gmail service as the top webmail provider in the states.

Back then, the Hotmail team lingers around to realize that Hotmail was very much outdated, and far fetch from their competitors in terms of features, and decided that the 15 years old service needed much changes in order to gain back momentum and take back a piece of their market pie that has been eaten up by the likes of Google.

Facebook to Launch “Simplistic” Privacy Options in coming weeks

May 19th, 2010

Looks like Facebook will be countering the backlash that it received few weeks ago. Tim Sparapani, head of public policy for Facebook, stated that they will be launching new “simplistic” privacy options for its users in the coming few weeks.

“Now we’ve heard from our users that we have gotten a little bit complex,” said Sparapani in an interview. “I think we are going to work on that. We are going to be providing options for users who want simplistic bands of privacy that they can choose from and I think we will see that in the next couple of weeks.”

While nobody knows what new tricks are they up to, one thing for sure is that we can expect more broad options for us to control our privacy and our information. Currently, new users’ profiles are set at default to be ‘very public’, inclusive of their profile information being shared with ither online services such as Yelp and Pandora.

Prepare $1 Million if you want to be in Apple’s iAd Platform

May 19th, 2010

$1 Million

Looks like the evil Apple’s up to something again. Remember the Apple iAd that Steve Jobs announce few months ago? Well apparently, advertisers will need to fork up to a minimum of $1 Million when the platform rolls out in the next few months. That’s likely a few times higher than other competitive advertising firm. And if you wanted to be apart of the iAd when it launches, you’ll need to burn nearly $10 million of hard cold cash!

That’s no small amount. However, considering millions of iPhone and iPod touch and iPad users worldwide, Apple is considering its advertising platform to be of premium services. Among those cash received, Apple will be collecting 40% of the revenue, while 60% will be distributed to developers of the app where the ads appear.
