Canon solves photocopier abusers by giving printers fingerprint security.

This entry reminds me of when I’m in my uni, where there are 2 units of 5-grand Canon photocopiers on each floor in the whole building. Its password protected and remote accessed for the lecturers’ convenience. We never actually manage to hack it to work for us, as we have to pay to print our FYP in the library. I guess now we can’t even think of hacking it.

This brilliant idea was Canon’s collaboration with Hitachi, which incorporate fingerprint security scanning system into their multi-function metal blocks. I do understand that many would love to abuse the free A4 papers in the company, but I though everyone can print remotely? What’s the point now? Anyway, the device is ready to be added to your multifunction box at any time for $1,460. Printer and paper not included.
