Brailliant-32 display lets even blind ones have fun with iPhone 4

It has always been hard for those vision-ly poor, or those with totally no vision, to use a phone. Think about the difficulties that they will face, and we can easily point out a numbers. But back then, there’s still buttons for them to fill. Now new touchscreen smart phones do not even come with buttons. Maybe 1, but what good can that do? Thankfully the iPhone 4 comes with support for Braille displays, like for example the Brailliant.
Acoustic guitar virtuoso and software guru Victor Tasaran demonstrated on the use of Brailliant on the iPhone 4, proving that even those with no visions can still enjoy the funfest of owning a touchscreen smartphone. Using the six buttons on his Brailliant-32 he’s able to navigate across icons, then feel the text beneath each one – or wait for the hurried text-to-speech to read back to him. It’s an encouraging solution for smartphone accessibility, but does have a rather negative impact on portability – and, we’re sad to say, on cost as well. His 32-character unit will set you back just under $4k, which is many times the cost of the phone itself. But, at least when it’s used like in the video below, sitting on the table, he won’t have to worry about signal issues.
