Soon you’ll be able to shoot your very own homemade 3D video

Panasonic is rumored to announce a new ‘consumer-level’ 3D camcorder at a press conference next week at 28th July. Specs for the upcoming camcorder are scarce, but source says that it’ll be about the same size as conventional consumer-use camcorder, with a pair of lenses integrated to give the effect of 3D.

Panasonic and other major consumer electronics makers have been pushing 3D televisions in the last few months as the first professional 3D content begins to appear on Blu-ray Disc and via television networks. Seeing as the cinematic world is fast-pace on pushing 3D films, it would not be a surprise that electronic giants were to invade the home market with 3D camcorders too.

Panasonic already has a professional-level 3D camcorder, the AG-3DA1.  It’s a semi-professional camcorder with a bulbous twin lens assembly in place of the normal single lens. It records full high-definition images to SD memory cards, but is only available as a built-to-order product from the company for US$21,000.
