Captain Slow is now among the fastest driver in the world.

Yeah. Sort of, actually. He did manage to hit the said max speed of 431km/h of the car. In 2005, Bugatti announced the world’s fastest road-legal car. Two years later, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT overtook it with a top speed of 412km/h. That made Bugatti pressed the red alarm button, and everyone went back to the drawing board.
As if a four figure horsepower figure wasn’t enough, the company have now pushed power delivery from 1,001hp to 1,200hp, with an amazing 1,500Nm of torque. This is able to yield the record breaking top speed of 425km/h which was done on the proving grounds of the Volkswagen Group at Ehra-Lessien. In 2007, James May of Top Gear BBC went to have a blast in the Bugatti Veyron on Volkswagen’s secret track Ehra-Lessien. In 2010, he returned to that track, to smash that 407km/h record with the new Veyron Supersport in last week’s season 15 Top Gear. A very amazing piece of engineering that Veyron Supersport is, as it is now the fastest car in Top Gear’s track thanks to the Stig. Somehow it gives me the feeling that every person must try at least once in his life to drive beyond 400km/h. Talk about some freaking low altitude flying.
