BlackBerry Torch lighted. Yours for $200 with a contract.

RIM has announced that their latest BlackBerry Bold, the Torch (aka 9800) will be launched in August. The Torch is a slide-smartphone with a hidden QWERTY keyboard on a portrait slide. There’s a 5-Megapixel camera with flash (most probably LED) that’ll improve your ‘shooting-on-the-go’ experience. Other major features include Wi-Fi 802.11n support, 4GB of onboard storage, paired with a 4GB microSD card in the package. There’s a 512MB each of ROM and RAM. The Torch has a quadband 3G radio, making it a global smartphone (duh).

Now the Torch only has a 480 x 360 touchscreen display, which is the same resolution as the Bold 9700 which measures 3.2 inches. Nothing very ‘hu-ha’ here if you compare to Apple’s Retina display. There’s the typical optical trackpad down below, something of BlackBerry’s trademark. The new Torch comes with a ‘Media Sync’ feature that’ll let you sync your media library right over Wi-Fi – something that many has tried but wasn’t launched massively out-of-the-box.

Now of kush this new Torch comes with the BlackBerry 6. With the help of the ‘6’, this Torch will have some very funky new features that RIM hope will ‘woo’ back their fans and potential customers whom have hugely swung over to the other fruit company. Have a look at more of the BlackBerry Torch in the two videos below.
