Lotus Exos Type 125 is the nearest for you to drive F1-style.

When Lotus teased their Exos Type 125 track-day car, they mentioned “Ultimate Driving Experience”. But nobody actually think that Lotus would go this far as to providing a track-day car in the form of a near-F1 style track car. What’s more, the Exos is so wickedly name to resemble the 1Malaysia Lotus F1 racing team. The 125 was revealed to a few of Lotus’ friends at the Monterey Motorsports Pre-Reunion, and it’s about as close as many of its buyers will get to a Formula 1 car.

To make it clear here, the Lotus F1 racing team owned by Malaysian Dato’ Sri Anthony Francis Fernandes has no technical collaboration partnership with this Lotus, which is owned by the Malaysian car manufacturer Proton. They only share the same name (obviously). The Lotus F1 racing team is doing rather well in this season’s F1, being one of the most successful rookie team, though it’s still smelling smoke from the other big boys. I believe they could do much better if they do have the input of the much experienced Lotus Cars based in UK.

Powered by a 650-horsepower Cosworth V8 that runs up to 10,300rpm, the 650-kilogram open-wheeler is no doubt awesome fast. With a starter motor and a tear-down interval of 4,000 kilometers, it should go relatively easy on budgets as well. Lotus says it will be offering 25 of them for one million dollars each, and will develop training and racing program around them. Hopefully Lotus would be revealing more sports cars, as their Elise and Exige are getting rather dated. I personally love Lotus’s cars as they emphasize on weight and handling rather than insane brute force. Funnily the Exos 125’s nose looks awfully like a Schick razor knife.
