Micron joins the lucrative SSD market with their new zippy RealSSD P300

Micron, the famous brand that gives us the award winning Crucial rams, is releasing their latest SSD to the market. Their new RealSSD P300 is capable of achieving a whopping 60,000 IOPS (Input/Output Operations per Second) random read speed, while write speed is recorded at a wonderful 45,200 IOPS.

The P300 uses ONFI 2.1 Flash interface technology, with 34nm SLC NAND flash chips embedded. They’re also implementing the ‘new’ SATA 6Gbps interface, which means this SSD is capable of 360MB/s read speed and 275MB/s write speed.

This RealSSD P300 will only hit retail at around October as Micron finalizes it with more sample tests. Micron mentioned that the P300 will come in 50GB, 100GB, and 200GB variants, but no official pricing for the moment. It looks like we’ll have to wait until October then.
