This seemed abit slowpoke, but nonetheless lol-able. Thirty-year-old Yoshifumi Takabe has pleaded guilty to the Kobe District Court in western Japan recently, in regards to burning down his house. The reason, being he became ‘suicidal after losing the figures’, which he says ‘were partners he wanted to spend his life with’. Read more…

When streaming videos of random people uploaded for free isn’t enough, Google has geared up again for world domination. Getting millions of hit hourly doesn’t seemed to satisfy Google’s hunger for domination of online digital movie content, and they’re preparing to join the battle with Netflix, and Apple’s upcoming movie-rental service. Oh what on earth is AMD’s marketing team thinking when they pulled the trigger? This will be a sad day for the red camp members and fans, as the mother company has just axed the use of the ATI moniker from here on out. Just when ATI finally won a long hard war against the giant green monster, AMD got ‘jelez’ that nobody in the world knew of ATI is under AMD and decided to remove that name once and for all after buying over the company few years ago. That’s right folks, the long awaited balance patch, probably the first of many to come, has been vaguely dated to come out in September. Thought I must say, that the game has only been launched not too long ago, so a patch in September seemed rather quick to me actually. Read more…

Do you own a Lambo? I sure don’t. Heck I don’t even think it’s possible for me to own one in this life, though we just be optimistic in life so yeah I’m gonna own one soon, hopefully. If you’re desperate to boost that you do own one (3cc vroom vroom combustion!), then maybe you should start collecting all 65 booklets. Read more…

Xbox Live gamers worldwide, please party. It’s time to rejoice, as Microsoft will be tweaking the console’s voice chat codec in an upcoming system update to allow a higher bit rate streaming through their VOIP protocol, which hopefully will result in better (clearer) audio. What was originally designed to run on 64k internet connections with the original Xbox, is finally catching up with our broadband times. Microsoft finally sees the ‘slowpokeness’ that they’re having. This update might come in this fall, possibly alongside the retail launch of Kinect. This time you won’t miss the whining of that fat boy when you pawned him in Halo.

The long-running joke about men unwilling to stop and ask for directions just got sealed, and men, you ain’t running away this time. Thanks to British insurance firm Sheilas’ Wheels, you guys are busted! And here comes the numbers. The average male motorist in Britain travels some 276 extra miles per year due to their arrogance, as they refuse to stop down and ask for directions. And with some decent calculations, that amounts to some £2,000 ($3,100) worth of wasted fuel over the stubborn man’s lifetime. Read more…

What’s a non-volatile storage? Non-volatile memory, NVM or non-volatile storage, in the most basic sense, is computer memory that can retain the stored information even when not powered. But now, thanks to Viking Modular, things got abit more complicated, but in a good way. Read more…

A normal looking headphone, very innocent looking, but might get you killed. This is Panasonic’s latest noise cancelling headphone, RP-HC700. The retro-inspired cans will kill 95-percent of surrounding noise, and will ship them in black or white hues if you need some fashion sense while ignoring your girlfriend (or mum) whining. Other specs include 40mm drivers, a 10Hz to 30 kHz frequency range and 15 hours of noise cancelling with a single AAA battery. Well if you wish to kill some zerglings during the night, and can’t stand your mum whining you to get to sleep (or your girlfriend, for whatever reason), just throw in ¥20,000 ($237) next month and you’re set to go. Though, I must warn you that you might lose your life for ignoring them far too long. Whether it’s worth it or not, is up to you.

Many are getting into the ‘break world record’ business lately. And if you fail to break the existing record, well just create your own category and make a new record.
Ohio State’s Buckeye Bullet 2 has just set a new battery-powered vehicle record (Electric Vehicle category) after hitting a whooping speed of 291 mph (468.3kmh!!!) averaged over two separate runs done back-to-back in opposite directions. Yes, it’s technically slower than the two-way land speed record of 301 mph the original BuckEye Bullet set back in 2009, but that car was powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
This new model was co-developed with boutique Monaco-based electric car manufacturer Venturi, and they replaced the fuel cells with new lithium-ion batteries from A123 Systems. It’s also apparently a testing prototype for a new car that’s coming in 2011. Well obviously the prototype care won’t be running at that neck-breaking speed, but it would be interesting to see how efficient and speedy that prototype can get, with inclusion of daily-driving practicality. Tesla, are you reading this?
