Wireframe bike looks like something from Maya

Created by Shi Jindian, this amazing piece of art is made of wire, modelled according to a Chiangjiang 750 that has a sidecar. It was apparently created in a process where the artist crochets steel wire around an object and then destroys and removes it from the inside, kind of like popping a balloon inside a home-made piñata. Now how he did that with an actual motorcycle is beyond me, but the results are certainly impressive. Destroying a motorcycle using nano-bugs maybe?

This new padlock will make you look trendy the least

Master Lock’s 1500iD padlock gives you a new way to lock your stuff up, in a method that hopefully you’ll think it’s easy; a 4-way directional pad instead of the typical spinning tumbler. Especially good for gamers to easily remember their combination, while hoping that those thieves are not gamers themselves.

For non-gamers a set of alternate passcode indicators is also included like letters, numbers, colors, shapes and symbols that can be stuck over the arrows if you find them easier to remember. $12.69 available from pretty much anywhere you can buy school supplies.

Spy your neighbour with this Hawk Eye-copter!

RC toy helicopters have been so boring, that it’s so yesterday to get one for your summer party. But when it looks like a cute robot dog, and has a built-in digital camcorder, it’s going to be a seller not only for the kids, but for many others. Air Hogs is preparing to launch their new Hawk Eye RC chopper, with a sweet price of $65. That’s really a bargain actually, when the chopper is able to capture your neighbour’s sneaky act for 5 minutes in 320×240 resolution quality video, or perhaps hundreds of photos at 640×480. But with such quality you’ll have tough luck using it as an aerial photography or camcorder for your low-budget blockbuster.

The Hawk Eye can directly connect to your PC for videos and photos transferring, and also charging your spy chopper while you’re busy editing them, so that you’ll be back in the air in no time after you’re done with your business. It also comes with a 2-channel remote of course, letting you control altitude and spin the chopper left or right, and start/stop the video recording or snap photos.

Samsung’s latest 2TB HDD is cheap and green

Samsung latest 3.5-inch EcoGreen desktop hard disk managed to get 2TB capacity with three platters, what its previous F3EG model only managed with four platters. That’s 667GB per platter, what Samsung calls the world’s highest areal density, environmentally friendly hard disk drive on the market. Specifically, this 3.0Gbps SATA disk with a 32MB buffer brings about a 19 percent improved standby performance and requires 23 percent less power in standby mode than its older brother, the EcoGreen F3EG. Better yet, it does all this for only $120 ($60 less!) when it hit the market in early September, considering both are under the green-series. Looks like HDD prices are getting lower again, yesh!

Captain Slow is now among the fastest driver in the world.

Yeah. Sort of, actually. He did manage to hit the said max speed of 431km/h of the car. In 2005, Bugatti announced the world’s fastest road-legal car. Two years later, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT overtook it with a top speed of 412km/h. That made Bugatti pressed the red alarm button, and everyone went back to the drawing board. Read more…

DiRT 3 trailer released!

Colin McRae’s era might be nearing the end when he passed away, as we can see that Ken Block’s starting to replace him when it comes to rally icons. I should be very ashamed of myself when I say that I haven’t played finish my DiRT 2 courtesy of ATI, but Codemasters doesn’t seemed to want to wait for me. They’ve already started working up on the next game, DiRT 3. Their idea of the next game? Ken Block spinning around like a mad man, Gymkhana, and drifting under a container that just exploded. Yeah, you’ll be able to test your drifting skills in a ‘Gymkhana’ like mode. I just hope that container won’t keep on exploding in that game in a repetitive style. But the good thing is, racing in snow is back! Yesh! The game’s coming in 2011 and is unveiled during the X Games, though the exact date is not mentioned.

Mr. Clock is such an attention -ho–

August 3rd, 2010

Meet Mr. Clock. He can tell you the time, but only when you pay attention to him. If you do not, he will get rather annoyed. But to show you how annoyed he is, he won’t give you the time, but only show you some ‘sneak peak’ of the current time. His idea of sneak peak? Random, nonsensical configurations, in segmented display. Only when you step right closer to him and give him some of your attention, will he do what he’s supposed to do, that is to tell you the time. Designed by Park Hye-Yeon, it’s supposed to be a piece of art. But his idea of an art that doesn’t do well in telling the time is that “if a clock’s ticking away in a gallery and there’s no one around to see it, does it really display the time?”
