Mushkin Outs 40GB Callisto deluxe SSD

There we have it, yet another hardware memory company jumping into the booming market of SSD, with the help of SandForce’s speedy NAND controller. Mushkin has added yet another new model to its Callisto deluxe SSD line-up, which has 40GB capacity. Just like its predecessors, this 2.5-inch SSD is also equipped with the latest SandForce SF-1200 controller, a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface (sorry no 6.0 Gbps here), a MTBF of 2 million hours, up to 50,000 IOPS of random write performance and promises to deliver read and write speeds of up to 285MB/s and 275MB/s respectively.

The 40GB Callisto deluxe SSD is currently available in Europe for 108 Euro (about $137) and comes bundled with a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch adapter.

Samsung Galaxy S to employ Gorilla Glass to protect that limited AMOLED

Samsung Galaxy S to employ Gorilla Glass to protect that limited AMOLED

Corning, the maker of Gorilla Glass, has announced that the Samsung Galaxy will employ the alkali-aluminosilicate glass shield. The glass is similar to the “helicopter windshield” Retina stuff Apple uses on their iPhone 4, which was rumoured to be Gorilla Glass at one point, and while neither tech is impervious  to shattering, they certainly can take a beating.

Mass Effect M8 Avenger Assault Rifle

Mass Effect M8 Avenger Assault Rifle

Once in a while, we’ll see diehard fans of some games or anime cosplaying around, or building stuff out of inspiration for the things that they admire. But most of them looks like crap, seriously.

Damn how I wish this thing comes as a bundle with the ‘Collector’s Edition’ of the Mass Effect game. BioWare should seriously consider such thing. But what you see here is not something mass developed by some plastic moulding company for a game developer. This is what a true fan did when they’re inspired. Not a cheapo plastic gun here, this thing is made of wood! Yeah, there may be some plastic here and there, but seriously, the weight of the wood would give you a better feel and tactile of the darn gun, which would not feel like some kids’ ray guns. Sony’s latest HDTV goes high-tech again.

August 26th, 2010

Sony’s latest HDTV goes high-tech again.

Say the name please. KDL-60NX810, KDL-55NX810 and KDL-46NX810 sounds like names of some random microchips, or some drones from Star Wars. But they’re Sony’s latest midrange HDTV, which is just under the flagship XBR-series.

Sony’s XBR10 is somewhat wicked sick, with wireless HDMI and is made super slim with Sony’s insane technology. But they’re not 3D ready, there’s no Wi-Fi, and no localized dimming, which current peeps think is the in-thing. So Sony’s throwing in a ‘nearly-premium’ KDL-series that’s Wi-Fi ready, 3D-ready, but short of the wireless thing. They’re also part of a resurgence of localized backlight dimming technology at Sony that started with the beloved, old, over-engineered but amazing XBR8, which can still outpace many newer LCDs. Hopefully they can capture the attention of some shoppers while Sony redesign their flagship with some funky stuff and amazing tech yet again. Read more…

Pioneer KODO XW-NAW1 iPod dock goes to the wall

We’ve seen a fair amount of iPod docks that’s flickering around the market place, ranging from cheapo China-brand companies with their badly assembled and painted products, to premium glossy docks from certain companies that charges you thousands just because of that few Swarovski crystals that they stuck in there. But Pioneer plans to seal that gap, with their KODO XW-NAW1 which slides in between these two categories. Decent product from a reputable company, sold at a reasonable price.

ColorWare made your Magic Trackpad like a super miniature golf course

Well, almost. There’s no harm in ordering a pink magic trackpad from ColorWare to match your ‘all pink bling bling’ setup. But I bet you many would be asking if you’re an air head for spending $75 for a paint-job on such a small thing. Crazy right? But you just got to have the perfect color match for your perfect desktop setup, so I won’t blame you, unlike your wallet.
