Only in Korea thought. As a 69-years-old Korean lady name Cha just got hers after passing her driving test on her 950^th attempt. Ouch! Might not happen at anywhere else in the world, and while the rest of the world is laughing at her, she happily drives her ‘Soul’ around. Hopefully the ‘Soul’ doesn’t get crashed on the first trip home.

The story goes, as Cha Sa-soon started taking the 50-minute test in early 2005. However, she just couldn’t manage to get past the written portion of the exam. The paper only had about 40 objective questions, and requires a 60 out of 100 points in order to pass. Therefore, beginning in April 2005, she started taking the test once a day, five times weekly, and failing miserably in each of her attempts. Eventually her pace slowed down to twice a week. Thought she seemed undetermined, she hasn’t given up, and finally managed to past the written part of the exam on her 950^th time.

Local news outlets ran with the story, and it wasn’t long before the tale caught the ear of Korean auto giant Hyundai-Kia. The company asked people to post congratulatory messages online (through social sites and blog I guess), and after an overwhelming response, Kia handed her key to a brand-new Soul. Lucky person she is. I’m sure where I come from, some people would easily gave up, and used some other dirty methods to past. Who would endure such long and agony pain? Well, mentally pain anyway. Congratulations Cha, now drive safely!
