Fring reveals FringOut for cheap VoIP calls, challenges Skype head-on

Fring has been around for quite some time. Back then it’s the only messenger that I can get up running on my Symbian S60 phone. There’s no Skype compatibility either. But other time, they’ve grown. Well if you compare them to Skype they didn’t manage to get as much attention as they wanted. But with their new FringOut, they hope to get back some slice of the market from their old rival Skype.

Apparently, FringOut appears to provide even cheaper calls to landlines and mobile phones than its powerful namesake. Starting on Nokia’s S60 platform and “coming soon” to Android and iPhone, FringOut’s promising as-low-as one-cent-a-minute calls. Of kush, if it’s cheap, then we’d expect a mediocre call quality here. Hopefully their call qualities can be comparable to Skype.

“Hundreds of millions of people have tried low-cost internet calling on their PC or through restricted mobile offerings. With the launch of fringOut, fringsters can benefit from internet calling with the convenience of mobile without cumbersome wires and cables.” said Avi Shechter, Co-Founder & CEO of fring. “The fringOut service joins our leading video service, to create a fun, internet-rich, cost-effective mobile experience for our thriving community of tens of millions of fringsters.”
