I’m sure many Apple fans would know HyperMac and loved it to bits. Thanks to HyperMac batteries their Apple toys can last longer in the battlefield. No thanks to Apple for moving to sealed-in MacBook Pro cells across the whole damn line. But Apple seemed to want to crash the party, as it filed a patent -infringement lawsuit against HyperMac manufacturer Sanho earlier this month, claiming that it’s using the patented MagSafe power connector and 30-pin iPhone / iPod dock connector without a license.
Now, the irony. Sanho says that they’ve always been using original Apple MagSafe connectors, which would theoretically defeat Apple’s patent claims. This is because once a patent holder sells a product that contains a patented technology, it can be difficult to claim that the patent is being infringed by the use of that product, even if there’s modification involved. Something called “Patent exhaustion”. Things might get interesting here and we’ll see what happens, but we’d predict things come to a quick end once Sanho’s lawyers send in the first bill.
Sony has updated their PlayStation 3’s firmware to 3.50. As promised by Sony, it’s got 3D Blu-ray movie playback in it, so perhaps you can rush out after work to get those cheesy 3D Blu-ray movies later. Oh, don’t forget the glasses! And the 3D LCD TV if you don’t have one. Read more…
HTC Mozart is your Windows Phone 7 from the Taiwanese. This time, there’s a video showing it off how ‘cool’ Windows Phone 7 can be. Specs? 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250, 576MB of RAM, 1,300mAh Li-Pol battery, 3.7-inch WVGA Super LCD screen, and an 8 megapixel camera with Xenon flash around the back. Fairly decent for smartphones these days. I’m actually happy that they don’t shove in a huge ass 4-inch screen panel. That’s overkill guys. But I’ve got to admit that the handsome Mozart looks awesomely like the ‘gone-but-not-forgotten’ Nexus One. Have a look at the video below, and I’m very sure you’ll be pretty much convinced that the Windows Phone 7 is going to be very awesome.
Okay, sometimes big corporates will go and trademark any names that they think of during lunch time, the patents first and ask questions later concept. So it’s no shocker to see RIM filing the name “SurfBook”. The name “SurfBook” was filed in early August, only to show up in Canada’s filing system recently. But seriously, you can’t blame us for imagining much funny stuff when you go and file a word that has a “Book” and “Surf” in it. Ok. Perhaps filing a patent with the word “Book” is nothing worth nothing ten years back but not these days.
There’s no matching documentation in the USPTO just yet. Surfing a site called “SurfBook”, or accessing the cyberspace using a “SurfBook”. RIM, what on earth happened to your BlackPad? No more love for the black? Maybe we’ll get a “SurfPad” to surf with, you know?
Yesterday a Blizzard Bluepost was online publishing the patch notes for the upcoming 1.1 patch. Only twenty minutes later the information disappeared without a trace.
Nevertheless some clever and wise people of the internet copied the patch notes. Since they’re not official, so please take them with some pint of salt, and cola too. The “new” patch notes contain several changes to the officially announced patch notes that have been published a while ago. Funny thing about this is, I can hear the cries of a thousand Terran players. Their manly tears taste really good. Read more…
Do you like all-in-one PCs? They’re great stuff you know? For the missus who only uses them to exchange gossip emails, and the occasional recipe hunting when they’ve finished their Korean dramas. No Photoshop and After Effect here. Maybe some occasional Farmville, but hey this thing can run Farmville no problem. The new HP’s TouchSmart 310 and the Omni100 won’t sweat it up when you try to fire up YouTube, Facebook, Hulu, Netflix, Twitter, and even HP’s built-in HDTV tuner, as they’re custom integrated into HP’s Windows 7 touch overlay system. I’ve not used trackballs for years now, but I’m sure many are still using ‘em. Well, Logitech has brought back the glory days of trackballs to their fans, with the latest bad boy ball. The new Logitech Wireless Trackball M570 is designed to deliver comfort and control to those looking away from touchpads and traditional little mice. It’s wireless, which obviously means that it’s great to manoeuvre around. No strings attached, if you know what I mean. Yeah! Oh, please, forget about Saturday night fever, it’s still few days away. Anyway, as Logitech’s new culture, it also comes with the ‘leave-it-there-and-forget-about-it’ Logitech Unifying receiver. Wish you could do that to your wife eh? Read more…
I’m not sure how your TV in your living room feels, but I’m sure mine would be super lonely. I’ve not touch it for like… months! All thanks to broadband! J Well, Logitech seemed to feel your TV, and knows that it’s lonely because Logitech also speaks Tee Vee language. So they’re saying to hold on, as a new ‘mate’ would soon join in the fun of your living room, and befriend with your Tee Vee! Hooray!
Driving alone at night is nothing shock to experience, as I’ve been doing that fairly often. But the journey’s made short thanks to less traffic. A trip that would usually takes me 30-minutes on peak hour got shortened to around 5-minutes, which is very amazing how the traffic can make us waste so many times on the road. But of kush, it always cross my mind what, or who, I would see sitting behind me, or under my steering wheel, if you know which movie I’m referring to. No thanks to these movies, I’ve always constantly checking to see if there’s anybody in my car before I get in it. It’s a habit now. And to further comfort my tiny heart, I’d blast the music out loud and get myself ‘entertained’ to avoid thinking of those nonsense things. Read more…
AMD has released six new desktop processor models to the market; these include new SKUs in both Phenom II and Athlon II lines. Older SKUs may have been displaced from their price-points by some of the new models. The first one would be a new value dual-core model, the Athlon II X2 265 (3.30 GHz), which will be giving a fight for Intel’s dated Dual-Core Pentium processor, which surprisingly is still hovering around. There’s also the ‘weird’ triple-core Athlon II X3 450 (3.20 GHz) and the quad-core Athlon II X4 645 (3.10 GHz). Read more…
