iHome teases first AirPlay-compatible portable speaker dock

iHome seemed to be very happy to get in first into the AirPlay bandwagon with their latest speaker. However, they seemed reluctant to share even a single info about it. All we know is that it’ll have a rechargeable battery and be available for the holidays. Doesn’t look much like a speaker thought, more like a Peci.

Halo: Reach Midnight Release by Gamer’s Hideout in Malaysia

It says a lot about you when you stay up late at midnight and queue up in a mall that’s closed, just to be among the first in the country to get your copy of the game. Midnight launch is rather normal these days, as we’ve seen many have already adapted this culture. I won’t comment on those that camp outside Apple few days before the launch of the iPhone 4 thought, as that’s classified as extreme enthusiasts.

The Xbox 360 wasn’t officially launched in Malaysia, but hopefully it will, soon, as we can see the huge turnout for this event organized by a famous game store called Gamer’s Hideout. They’ve organized a midnight launch event for the much-anticipated Halo: Reach at their shop lot located in Tropicana City Mall in Petaling Jaya. Check out the photos below.

Google TV officially launching October 17th?

We’ve seen the Logitech Revue box hardware, and Sony’s demo of the Google TV-supported hardware. But when will the big bomb get dropped in our living room? Engadget had a tipster told that the original plan to launch in October 3rd, was pushed back by two weeks. That would be around the 20th of October, or even late October. If you would like to be very specific, the push back calculated to a launch date of October 17th, which is certainly later then what Intel’s chief recently hinted at. How trustworthy is this news is anyone’s guess. But when we look at the source which comes from insiders of Best Buy, which is an official partner of Google TV, it seemed extremely relevant.

DisplayLinkwill give your USB 3.0 'any device, any display connectivity' freedom

We’ve seen some big corporates trying to push the Display-over-Ethernet concept, but now some other people have another idea. DisplayLink Corp wants your monitor to be powered up by a USB 3.0 connection too. Here at IDF 2010, DisplayLink has come forward with public plans to gravitate towards “any device, any display connectivity” with its new USB 3.0 chip platform. The DL-3000 and DL-1000 single chip series are being introduced in San Francisco, with each offering integrated display and networking connectivity, HD video support and “third generation DisplayLink adaptive real-time compression technology that dynamically manages bandwidth, taking full advantage bi-directional throughput of SuperSpeed USB.” Read more…

Acer will throw in a Froyo-fonk nicknamed Liquid Metal handset at end of October

Acer’s iPad rival has yet to be launched, and they’re already so excited in telling the world that they’re gonna release a new handset with both Windows Phone 7 version and Android version. Known as the Liquid Metal handset (surely not designed and developed by Apple’s liquid metal arm), it might hit stores in the end of October. That’s purely speculations thought. Read more…

New Kindle is readable even with sunglasses

In this huge world where reality is extremely competitive, we can always see some people taking a bite at others while trying to sell their stuff. We’ve seen quite a bit of biting from some to some, not only in the technology world, but also in many others, like auto manufacturers. The new Kindle from Amazon has just posted a new video ad at YouTube, which somehow takes comparison to a supposedly Apple iPad. Read more…

India’s $35 Android tablet has a twin?

India’s $35 Android tablet has a twin?

I’m not sure whether we can take this as breaking news, or a rumormill. Some reports have come in, that the India’s $35 tablet is believed to be a Hivision Speedpad, which is a $100 Android tablet made in China.

India made popular their ‘Designed in India’ tablet due to its unbelievably low price of $35 for students, at least. When you announced an Android tablet that cost merely $35, while everyone outside is pretty much paying over $200 to even $500 for nearly the same thing, whose gonna blame you for being sceptical. Samsung to multiply its display manufacturing arm by 10 times

We already knew about Samsung’s grand campaigns for escalating its display manufacturing arm in 2011, but now we also have a number to give us a sense of solid numbers: 30 million. That’s how many screens the new Mobile Display fab (set to go live in July) will be able to churn out in a month, which is a vastly superior rate in contrast to the current 3 million maximum. 10 times baby, 10 times. India’s $35 Android tablet hitting retails in January

Remember India’s Android tablet that wanted to prove to the world that they’ll be able to market the $35 tablet? Well they’ve might just be able to pull through it. After some financial issues and hardware limitation, the Indian government has announced that it’s awarded the manufacturing contract to HCL Technologies, and the first batch of tablets are slated to be available by January 10th. There, even a specific launch date is given, what else could go wrong? If we look back at history, HCL Technologies used to be makers of the world’s cheapest laptop, way back ages ago. Read more…
