Fujitsu’s dual touchscreen phone

Right, here’s another clamshell phone. Very typical of Japanese phone. I’ve seen a fair share of clamshell phones from the likes of Sharp and Fujitsu. DoCoMo, right a bell? It’ll look very typical when you close it. But when you push it open, that’s where things get interesting. It’s a dual touchscreen smartphone, and it’s a transformer! You’ll know why later.
Fujitsu showed off over at CEATEC a snazzy dual touchscreen smartphone with a hinge that allows it to stack vertically or horizontally. They’ve let UI-wizards The Astonishing Tribe loose to make the software. Yes, there’s no WinMo (or WinPho), iOS, or Android, or even WebSOS in this baby. That’s why it’s great.
The device is just a prototype, but the hardware—and especially its magical hinge—looks like it’s pretty far along at this point. I’d expect that since this phone is from Japan. The video shows the dual 960 x 480 displays seamlessly scrolling content, but what’s even more exciting is the flick to share interface that has been whipped up for photos, and very touchscreen based experience. Thought, I would admit that it’s still slightly sluggish and laggy.
There’s no word on when or if the transformer phone might come to market, but it is very cool to see in a real, working state nonetheless. Throw in some multithreading mobile processor and some transparent OLED, and we’re looking at a Starcraft Phone! Hell yeah, I can transform ya, babeh!
