Palm Pre 2 with webOS 2.0 finally launched

Alright, after missing for quite some time, HP has finally dished out the Palm Pre 2 alongside with the long delayed webOS 2.0 out to the mass public in full glory. The Palm Pre 2 will be the first device to ship with HP webOS 2.0, and with that we see lots of new features, and some improved old features.

The webOS 2.0 comes with the revamped and renamed (presumably to use on more than just Palm smartphones) mobile OS promising “true multitasking,” Stacks (for organizing apps) Just Type, HP Synergy (links your email and social networking accounts), Exhibition (enabling users to run apps designed specifically for the Palm Touchstone Charging Dock) and support for Adobe’s Flash Player 10.1 Beta. It’s also bringing along a new Favorites tagging option, Skype Mobile (on the Verizon version only), text assist, integrated Quickoffice, VPN support, a redesigned launcher and full support for Bluetooth keyboards and SPP peripherals.

As for the Pre 2, there’s multitouch in order to catch up with the current smartphone trend. Imagine a BlackBerry Torch 9800 with a webOS 2.0. Have a look at the specs of the Pre 2 at below. There’s no mention of what processor is used, but Engadget has a source that says 1GHz processor.

SFR customers in France will have the cute black Palm on Friday, with US Verizon and an undisclosed carrier in Canada schedules to come along in the upcoming months. US-based developers will be able to purchase unlocked UMTS version of the Pre 2 for an undisclosed priced!
