Windows Car 7 arrives, hopefully no BSOD

And it’s actually called Windows Embedded Automotive version 7. It’s ready for your download pleasure, though it really depends on what car you are driving, in order to download. The download page goes along something like “select car makers and suppliers in the automotive industry.”

Well, in this 7th edition, Microsoft is bringing Silverlight to your car, real-time text-to-speech technology, and better expandability for third-party plugins. In bigger news, Microsoft is confirming that it is the brains behind the Nissan Leaf’s Information Hub, which not only handles infotainment duties but also gives charging status and power consumption figures.
