HP Slate 500 goes official, $799!

Yes, it has gone through a rough road, but the HP Slate is finally here to see the light of day. Even though HP markets the Slate as an enterprise and business market product, well anyone will be able to buy it for $799.

The HP Slate comes packed with a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor, 2GB of memory, 64GB SSD storage, and Broadcom’s Crystal HD accelerator for handling 1080p video. Not sure why the Broadcom’s chip is there, as the Z540 is capable of processing Full HD videos anyway. The 8.9-inch capacitive touch Slate runs on Windows 7 Professional, but it’s got a Wacom active digitizer for taking notes, which certainly sets it apart from the other Win 7 tablets that’s about to hit the market. A VGA cam at the front and a 3-Megapixel camera at the back.
The box comes with a case and a dock, if you’re curious. The included dock has an HDMI-out port if you want to hook it up to the big screen.
