New Full HD display by Ortustech smashes your Retina to pieces

And you wonder who the hell Ortustech is. Some ostrich company from China making imitation screens? Not quite near there. Ortustech is a joint venture between Casio Computer and Toppan Printing to develop small and medium sized displays. They’re not quite in the league of Samsung and LG, yet. But they sure weren’t some small fries either, as they just put your sparkling new Retina display to shame.

Today, the company is announcing a 4.8-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel HAST (Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT) LCD with 160-degree viewing angle, 16.8 million colors, and a pixel density of 458ppi. Makes the Retina display look like a yesteryear technology when putting them side by side. But if you think this will be in your next Android phone, and your hopes are pretty deem should I say. Casio used to demo a small panel that has 546ppi, which edge off this new panel, but still hasn’t been put into a consumer product. So this might also be a show-off technology from Casio yet again. This might be a great example of ‘overkill’.
