When Dell refreshes its dying XPS laptop lineup, the company somehow also reshuffles its marketing strategy. The company’s products are now split into three groups: Inspiron, XPS, and Alienware. Obviously the one missing here is the ‘Adamo’ fashionable lineup. Yes, when Dell went back to the drawing board for their business tactics, they killed the Adamo somehow. Somehow, this can be further proven by the sneaky disappearance of the Adamo XPS from Dell’s site — it’s completely killing off the premium brand and has actually tamped down volumes of the super thin machines. Here’s something odd for those impatient people. GE mentioned that they’ve managed to create a ‘new’ lamp design that fusion ‘instant-on’ with ‘efficiency’. GE is introducing its Hybrid Halogen-CFL bulb. It’s basically a typical CFL unit, but look closely inside those coils and you’ll spot a wee halogen bulb peeking out. It’s like two bulbs in one, the halogen unit powering on almost instantaneously then fading off once the CFL element gets itself all riled up. Not really a hybrid fusion, but more of a design trick. GE said that it’ll be available soon in few months’ time, but I’m not very convinced. I’d prefer an LED bulb, as they start to get common. This ‘hybrid’ from GE doesn’t seem to be cheap too.

It seemed that Boeing would be the first company to implement real Internet connectivity during in-flight. Yes, soon you’ll be able to surf Facebook and watch some YouTube some 30,000 kilometres up in the sky. The company has just announced the first certification and installation of Panasonic Avionics’ eXConnect in-flight internet service in one of its Boeing Business Jet 737 aircraft, which will initially be used by Panasonic itself for ongoing testing and demonstrations. While everyone is paying attention to Apple’s “Back to the Mac” press conference, Apple slyly updated their MacBook Pro lineup, which wasn’t announced in the conference. Specifically, the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro laptops can now be had with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor, a bump from the previous 2.66GHz processor model. That’ll top up about $200 more (or RM644) than the previous top-of-the-line i7 processor offered. Read more…

Alright, this goes officially official. Apple’s launching its 11.6-inch baby MacBook Air, which is pretty much a downsized version of its newly-redesigned 13.3-inch MacBook Air. Spec wise, it’s running on a dual-core 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, which is upgradeable to 1.6GHz. Resolution is a typical 1366 x 768, and you get a 64GB SSD for $999 or a 128GB variant for $1,199. Like the iPad, the MacBook Air was designed from the ground up to use flash storage exclusively.

Do you wear glasses? I do. I’d just be frank that I hate being short sighted. The bad things about wearing a glass is that you’d need to take them off when you eat your instant noodles, when you go swimming, and get pretty stupid when you go for a 3D movie. Yes, I wear both my glasses and the 3D glasses provided by the cinema, which is pretty stupid.
And it seemed that there are people facing similar problems in Samsung. That’s probably the reason why they launched this package. They’re now adding prescription lens option to their active shutter 3D glasses. Hooray! Read more…

Greedy fatty EA seemed to be gobbling up yet another game publishing company and spitting up sequel-based and franchise release titles to milk up gamers’ money. They’ve also been rather aggressive in releasing games for the iPhone and iPad. Now, the LA Times reported that they’ve also buying up the publisher of Angry Birds, Chillingo Publisher for $20 million. Read more…
