Energizer AP1201 case for iPhone 4 charges while it protects

Energizer, the famous name that we all know for battery, is now releasing a new case for your iPhone 4. You know what everyone says about their iPhone and its awful battery life: “it’s never enough”.  Energizer’s new AP1201 case seemed determined to solve that problem.

The slim and protective case which is made of silicone rubber somehow looks good on your new black iPhone 4, if you appreciate simpleton designs. What’s more special is that Energizer promise double the battery life of your iPhone. You can charge your phone while wearing it, and you’re provided with two charging options: a high speed charging mode which charges the phone first, then the case, while the other option provides simultaneous pass-through charging. That seemed promising, and the price seemed to be somehow acceptable. At $69.99, it gives you additional doubled battery life. That seemed fair enough.

Kingston introduces Class 4 32GB microSDHC card, is very fast.

Kingston introduces Class 4 32GB microSDHC card, is very fast.

Just when you thought that SanDisk is winning the great portable memory card war, Kingston comes in and demands a fair competition, though I won’t say it’s very fair. Unlike SanDisk’s Class 2 microSDHC card, Kingston’s version is a Class 4, which means that you can look forward to something of 4MB/s data transfer rate. Delicious isn’t it? Of kush, they don’t come cheap. Double the class, double the price. Compared to SanDisk’s $87 for 32GB, you’ll be paying Kingston $153 for their 32GB version Class 4 microSDHC card. Speed and hefty price, or budget but slow-mo speed?

Yahoo messenger app coming to iPhone and Android with cross-platform 3G video calls

Looks like Yahoo will be invading the smartphone strongly soon and compete in the video chat app market with others like Fring and Skype and QiK and Tango. Reuters reported that the famous web portal’s VP of Mobile division David Katz says that a new Yahoo! Messenger with cross-platform video chat will be heading to Android and iPhone very soon, as it’s presently been submitted to the iTunes App Store for review. It’ll reportedly work over both 3G and Wi-Fi connections and freely conduct video calls with any other device running Yahoo! Messenger, including webcam-equipped PCs. Woot!

Sharp shows off 35mm thin BDXL recorder at CEATEC

Sharp shows off 35mm thin BDXL recorder at CEATEC

Super thin design in a portable device might be able to make some hu-ha in the news section, but thinness in home entertainment centre might not have the same impact. I personally love sleek designs, and usually slim devices will have some sleek design cues. While I really love the thinness of this new 35mm Sharp BDXL recorder, some might not share the same thought as me. It’s a common (and bad) concept that thin electronic devices for the living room will easily overheat compared to their ‘fatter’ counterpart.

Sharp’s latest and thinnest Blu-ray recorder is just 35mm thick yet capable of writing to BD-R discs or the newer, pricier, 100GB BDXL discs. But such design comes with a compromise, and the compromise here is the internal HDD, which has been ditch to comply with such slim design. Is there no love for 1.8-inch HDD, Sharp? That’s a rather huge compromise as I see it. It’s going to be rather awfully inconvenient to not have a spinner in there to record those dramas, and then burn them up when you’ve made your pick. But the good thing is that there’s no ‘release date’ and ‘release price’, so perhaps they’ll somehow squeeze in some new 1.8-inch spinner in there at the final product, thought the overall cost may just up quite abit.

Stowaway bath panel storage system saves you space, and looks great at the same time

Stowaway bath panel storage system saves you space, and looks great at the same time

This is what I mean by space consciousness. By saving as much space as possible, and at the same time, making the surrounding simple and neat. Keep all the things that you need in a place where you won’t see, and taking them out easily only when you need to. What’s more, they’re easily accessible. This is the idea of the Stowaway bath panel storage system from GW International, which utilizes the unused space underneath the bathtub and turns it into a useful storage place for your body lotions and shampoos and facial foams and… anything you need. Floor cleaner? It’d be great if you can put your broom in it, but hopefully no mouse or lizards or cockroaches can get in easily.

The Stowaway bath panel is a pull-down panel with chrome baskets that allows for organized storage of toiletries and other accessories. When closed, the Stowaway bath panel looks like any other ordinary panel, but when pulled with the handle on the top edge of panel, it reveals the storage racks fitted underneath. The innovative range of bathroom storage panels was launched at KBB Birmingham in March 2010 and will start selling from the 1st of September. Great stuff indeed, if you’re thinking about renovating your house in the coming near future.

Dixons Releases 7-inch and 10-inch Android Tablets in the UK

Here we go again. Yet another Android tablet to invade this innocent market. UK retailer Dixons has launched a couple of new Android tablets in the UK namely the Advent Amico and Advent Vega. The Amico is a 7-inch tablet that runs on the Google Android 2.1 OS, while the Vega is a 10.1-inch model with the Google Android 2.2 OS, a capacitive multitouch display and a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core CPU. The Vega also has a 1.3MP camera, Wi-Fi and an SD card slot. The Advent Amico and Advent Vega are priced at £129.99 ($207) and £249.99 ($398), respectively. Both models should be available starting November 1st, 2010. No idea on why one is using Android 2.1 while the other is running on Android 2.2.

Philips Wake-up Light Plus wakes you up naturally

Philips Wake-up Light Plus wakes you up naturally

Philips calls their new Wake-Up Light Plus an eco-friendly gadget. But how is it eco-friendly? By waking you up in a very natural way, which is by increasing the light glow gradually and some natural sound. I’m not sure how eco-friendly is that, but I guess in their mind-set anything that’s quiet or low-in-noise is eco-friendly. Well, similarly electric vehicles have very small operating sound. See the similarity there?

The Philips Wake-Up alarm clock also features an FM radio, four natural wake-up sounds, and an optional USB port. There’s also the dusk simulation that helps you drift to your dreamland, if seemed cool enough for me. The Philips Wake-up Light Plus is purchasable for $169.99, if you’re a very green guy. But I’d prefer if they wake me up through my favourite morning crew on my favourite radio channel.

Sony VGP-BMS15 Bluetooth Laser Mouse is super colourful

Sony VGP-BMS15 Bluetooth Laser Mouse is super colourful

Sony has released a new Bluetooth laser mouse, and it seemed to be a lovely pair to your VAIO laptops, if you have any. Like all their VAIO laptops that are so colourful, the new VGP-BMS15 Bluetooth laser mouse also comes with colourful choices, and they’re interchangeable form-fitting covers, which add up some very stylish looks for your mobile setup.

The sliding cover also turns the mouse on (lol?) and off while also covering the scroll wheel and buttons when not in use. What’s more, this 800-dpi laser mouse also has a low-friction, non-stick PTFT sole to help reduce hand strain, and hopefully improve your headshots.

Compass Alert System guides you out of hell

Compass Alert System guides you out of hell

We’ve seen so many crazy and bizarre timepieces from Yanko, but rarely have I seen other concept from them, especially such concept like this safety system for buildings. Designed by Mathieu Azema, the Compass Alert System will help you find your way to safety exit in case of emergency, in a building. Something like aeroplane’s in-flight guiding system on the floor. Except that this has a vocal guide too.

It is an illuminated guide for public buildings that should be placed regularly throughout structures so to point people in the direction of the nearest exit. This “Compass” illuminates in times of crisis using easy-to-read arrows and an audio play track that dictates escape instructions. Would be extremely useful and lifesaving under smoky environment.
