Just when you thought you’ve finally saved up enough to purchase the Leica M9, along comes this fatal blow to your ambitions. We’re looking at the Leica M9 Neiman Marcus Edition that saw its price point shoot up all the way to $17,500 (zomgwtfbbqsauce), making it the only camera that merges the classic Leica M shooting experience in a digital format. This is also touted to be the only digital rangefinder camera with interchangeable lenses and a full-frame 18-megapixel sensor in the world. At least that will help calm down your heart. No wonder it is so expensive, since only 50 of these puppies will be flashing around. Read more…

Yes, everyone knows that Microsoft’s super successful Windows 7 doesn’t play well with ‘pads’. Well, the user interface isn’t meant for finger input in the first place, as well all know that it were supposed to be the real Vista back then. But Windows 7 is a great OS, and everyone wants it to work on their ‘pads’. The solution? To develop their own layer for the OS, like HP’s TouchSmart UI.
Now there’s rumour that Microsoft is working on their own touchscreen layer, which most probably would be based on Windows Media Center. Microsoft would probably not release another version of Windows, as they focus on optimizing the new OS for slates, and prepping its partners with information.

Mercedes-Benz doesn’t like the sound of losing out to BMW. As BMW has released their in-car iPad integration along with those bells and whistles, Mercedes-Benz has also released their own version of the hideous accessory, and boy they look awfully similar. Read more…

You and Me. That’s Umi, Cisco’s consumer-level HD video conferencing system. It’s HD baby! The system consists of a 1080p camera module, remote, and a separate set-top box. Cisco says Umi will allow for full 1080p video calls with 720p/30 recording, with a fallback to 720p / 480p if bandwidth is constrained. The camera itself has a glass lens with an optical zoom, autofocus, auto exposure and auto white balance, as well as motorized pan, tilt, and zoom. There’s also a motorized privacy shutter, which is a nice touch. The service is compatible with Google Voice and Video Chat, and Cisco says it’s looking into FaceTime integration as well, since they’re buddies with Steve Jobs. No words on Fring and Skype to be friends thought, but we’d expect them to be anyway. It’s in the blood, I think. Read more…

According to Sony Insider, Sony will be unveiling four new models to ‘celebrate’ the announcement of Google TV. They are NSX-24GT1, NSX-32GT1, NSX-40GT1, and NSX-46GT1, which we ‘decoded’ as 24-, 32-, 40-, and 46-inch sets.
While no price is known for the littlest of the quartet, the others are reportedly equipped with respective $1299.99, $1499.99, and $1899.99 price tags. The lowest of those three is about $300 more than BRAVIA EX710, the most expensive Sony 32-incher right now.

Intel has revealed some sweet numbers for their ‘refresh’ for the Postville, and they call it the Postville Refresh. For your info, the current X25-M G2 carries the Postville codename. The new drive will use 25nm IMFT Flash, which probably means twice the capacity at the same price. Even though Intel is sampling the 25nm MLC NAND, it is not certain whether the drive itself will be available this year. Will probably arriving in first quarter of next year. The expected capacity ranges from 40GB (X25-V) all the way up to 600GB. Read more…

Right, here’s another clamshell phone. Very typical of Japanese phone. I’ve seen a fair share of clamshell phones from the likes of Sharp and Fujitsu. DoCoMo, right a bell? It’ll look very typical when you close it. But when you push it open, that’s where things get interesting. It’s a dual touchscreen smartphone, and it’s a transformer! You’ll know why later.

Unique and refreshing marketing is always a welcome, but bizarre ones are rarely pulled off. Here’s an example of bizarre marketing strategy, and it’s from Audi. Called “The Audi Spectacle”, it’s a campaign presented by the Access ad agency, and they somehow reinvented the concept of the billboard, and moved it up. Way up! Their idea here is the famous four rings taking over some of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Read more…
