At the first glimpse, these Force Unleashed II X G-Shock watches might be hideously ugly and look like something I’d wear ‘commonly’ ten years ago, or even twenty. What makes them so special? Here’s the catch. “Only 50 pairs are being made”. There’s that phrase alone will add 9,000 points to its beauty.
The two limited edition Force Unleashed II watches from G-Shock (a Casio brand) aren’t the sort of timepieces a person wears anyway. These are watches you keep in a box and sell on eBay five years from now when you’re low on rent money, or just can’t resist the DirectX 20 GPU from AMD ten years from now, or maybe five.
Right, everyone knows that Android is on steroid to climb the charts when it comes to market share and giving a great fight to Apple, and the Market may be quickly approaching the 100,000 apps mark, but the whole thing is hardly a global proposition. That’s right. You, staying in the US, might have great access to the Android market, but not everyone else out there does. That’s why Android has yet to surpass Apple. But now, they’re expanding.
As of earlier this week, paid apps were able to be purchased in just 14 countries, submitted by developers of just nine nationalities. Yes, that’s amazingly small numbers. But what’s more amazing is that with only nine nations developing, they’re able to develop so many apps (yes, most of them are ported, but who cares). That is about to change now, with Google adding 20 countries to its list of approved submitters, meaning developers living in 29 nations are eligible to submit paid apps to the Market. Over the next two weeks the purchasing of those apps will be flipped on for users in 18 countries, 32 in all that will have the “buy” button enabled — music to the ears of Java app developers everywhere. Which flags are newly embracing app capitalism? Check out the list below. Read more…
It’s been so long since I last touch my Left 4 Dead, but after watching this cinematic trailer, I suddenly have the urge to call up my friends and go hit the game, four VS all ‘Survivor’ style. Next week, downloadable add-on “The Sacrifice” comes to Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, giving the original Survivors, Zoey, Francis, Bill and Louis, a chance to beat up on Spitters, Chargers and Jockeys with melee weapons. Yes, even in the latter Left 4 Dead 2, you’ll still be playing the good ol’ four friends that we missed so much.
To set the mood, Valve has released a heart-pounding cinematic trailer for The Sacrifice, filed with thrills, chills and Bill’s molotov cocktail attack on a trio of Tanks. Let’s hope it never comes to that as we follow the original quartet of Survivors on their journey down south. Though I must say, the way the Tankers dance is very gay.
The Sacrifice will make its way to the Xbox 360, PC and Mac when it’s launched on Tuesday, October 5. Xbox 360 owners will be charged 560 Microsoft Points, while PC and Mac players will get the add-on content free of charge.
PS: The original “No Mercy” is also in the process of remade for the second game, with the original ‘fantastic four’.
Loki is the name of the new baby from Xigmatek, and it’s the high performance cooler. I guess this is the killer for Zalman’s new CNPS10X Extreme. The LOKI SD963 supports both Intel (LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA775) and AMD (AM3, AM2+, AM2) sockets. This high performance cooler comes with three direct-touch 6mm copper heatpipes, an aluminum fin array and a 92mm fan that operates at 1200 to 2800 RPM. I guess direct-touch technique is really the best choice for a performance cooler these days, as the results will always be more promising than the typical soldered ones. Pricing and availability are still unknown at the moment.
Toshiba has released several promotional videos for its 10-inch Android powered Folio 100 tablet. Surprisingly, the Folio 100 doesn’t have access to the Android Market, so the company has installed the tablet with its own apps, including a Toshiba Market. The gadget features a 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) pixel capacitive touchscreen display, a dual-core nVidia Tegra 2 chip, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Android 2.2 Froyo and Adobe Flash 10.1 support. Not quite a Galaxy Tab killer, or is it?

Hats off for the chinese this time. Gosund the chinese gadget manufacturer has unveiled a very ‘decent and cheap’ Android tablet, the Gpad 701. Now, are we going to see A to Z pads coming? Ops, Apad is already taken. Powered by a 720MHZ Telechip TCC8902 chip, the tablet boasts a 7-inch (800 x 480) resistive touchscreen, a 256MB RAM, a 2GB Flash storage and Android 2.1 OS. The Shenzhen GosundGpad 701 is compatible with RM/RMVB, AVI, MKV, FLV, WMV, MP4 and 3GP videos with an HDMI port to output videos. The Shenzhen GosundGpad 701 retails for 1099 Yuan or around $160 a pop. I told you it’s going to be affordable, but don’t count on it to be your cracked iPad replacement.
Sennheiser has another new earphone for you. It’s the Sennheiser MM 70i ear canal earphones, and oh boy they are real eye-catchers and are perfectly designed for mobile use. These earphones combine a clear stereo sound and a rich bass with an elegant design. The Sennheiser MM 70i earphones come equipped with six ear adapters made of silicone that offer a high level of passive attenuation of surrounding noise. There is also a new smart in-line remote with built-in microphone that works seamlessly with latest generations of iPod, iPhone and the iPad. This remote allows you to end or reject a phone call, and activate Voice Control without reaching for the source device. You have instant control of the volume, and you can play or pause, and skip to the next or previous track. It’s all easy and quick with just a touch of the on-cord unit. No word on pricing or availability at this moment. Thought, I’d still skip this and wait for my rugged CX680i for my gym session. But I sure know some boys and girls who’d love this.
Yes, Nokia’s latest N8 and E7 does use the Symbian^3 OS, but Nokia has said that they’re going to leave it for their low-end lineup budget phones, and their N-series phones will later ditch Symbian for MeeGo. Samsung has also ‘unofficially’ declared their departure from Symbian platform as they had emailed developers that they will close down their Symbian forum and stop support for Symbian phones. Sony Ericsson did not mention it officially too, but we all know what Aldo Liguori, their spokesperson means when he said “we have no plans for the time being to develop any new products to the Symbian Foundation standard or operating system.” Time to say “nananana, hey heyhey, good bye” to Symbian?
I’ve been using Dropbox for some time now, and it’s awesome. But now, the /awsm/ness has gone even further. Tech how-to blogger AmitAgarwal shows us how to combine a Dropbox account and a simple script with any device that supports Dropbox (which includes almost all popular smartphones and Windows/Mac/Linux operating systems) to remotely or wirelessly print documents on your home printer.
