AMD HD6970 delayed?

AMD has launched their HD6800 cards few weeks ago, but everyone is looking anxiously for the launch of their highly anticipated Cayman card, the HD6970. The card is rumored to have 2GB of GDDR5 with 1,536 streaming processors, 32ROPs, and 96 Texture units. Ports come in the form of two DVI, two mini Display ports, and a single HDMI. However, there’s no news about its TDP.
However, the news does not end there. Apparently, major card manufacturers have yet to make the cards based on the Cayman chip, even though the rumored launch date of December is nearing. Sources cited that the actual final Bios for the card ain’t completed yet, and the drivers are not yet polished, thus giving the performance a hit.
However, all these news should be taken with some pint of salt, as AMD has yet to even comment on the card. Thus, the launch of the Cayman-based card may still proceed in December, but we might see actual shipments being pushed into January of 2011.
