Hitachi throws in the first 3TB hard drive of the block with 6Gbps

I guess this would mark the assault of 3TB hard drives in the market. Hitachi was the first in the block to throw out a 3.5-inch 2TB hard drive at 7,200RPM, and now they seem to be keeping the lead by introducing the first 3TB for the mass. The company’s new Deskstar 7k3000 model will represent the company in the front line warfare of hard drives, not only as the first 3TB brick, but as the first with a 6Gbps SATA interface too!
The drive utilizes five-platter drive packing a 64MB cache buffer, with idle power drawing 6.8W of your miniature arc reactor. Hitachi claims it to have an eco-friendly, halogen-free design. Rumour has it to be around £200, or $320, but Hitachi has yet to affirm the official price and release date.
