Radeon HD 6990 specifications leaked?

Reports have surfaced with final specifications of AMD’s dual-GPU card, the Radeon HD 6990. As we already know, the HD 6990 consist of two Cayman chips, with a total of 3840 stream processors and a bizarre 6 teraflops in single precision and 1.5 teraflops in double precision. In numbers that about 30-percent more than the existing HD 5970 that it’ll replace. Geometry or triangle-power calculation goes to around 3,100 MTRI/s and 64 pixels per clock.

Antilles is the codename for this card, and its clock speed is around 775MHz each, while the memory bandwidth of the GDDR5 is clocked at 1,200MHz with bandwidth of 307.2GB/s. Yes, there’s no typo. It’s that crazy. The slideshow above also stated that the card has a TDP of 300W and 30W at idle. That’s a great thing if it’s true, as the GTX580 already reaches 380W in reviews, what’s more if we put two of the GTX 580 to form a GTX 595.

The Radeon HD 6990 will be arriving in the first quarter of 2011. Not sure how this will fair against Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 595, as the GTX 580 only lose out to the HD 5970 by about 20 to 30 percent in games and benchmark. If the HD 6990 is 30-percent faster than HD 5970, then it might just edge out by a bit against the GeForce GTX 595. Well, time will tell how these beasts fair.
