Sandy Bridge showing signs of awesome performance with 5GHz in air cooling

Here we have a look at an upcoming Sandy Bridge processor from Intel, the Core i7-2600K processor utilizing 32nm technology. This overclocking stun is done by Windwithme. You can have a look at the full review which is at the source down below. This is a Socket 1155 processor (not to be mistaken with the Socket 1156) that has 4 cores and 8 threads. The ‘K’ suffix behind the new 4-digit naming of the processor means that the multiplier for the processor is unlocked. Yes, this is a baby that screams of overclocking, similar to AMD’s Black Edition processors. Read more…

Sandy Bridge reported to coming in early January

Sandy Bridge reported to coming in early January

In an official statement from Intel, Sandy Bridge processors along with motherboards from partner manufacturers will be launched on the 5th of January at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2011). The launch will take place at Venetion Hotel in Las Vegas. In Sandy Bridge, the CPU and graphics processing unit (GPU) will be combined in one 32-nanometer piece of silicon, unlike current Westmere where only the processor lies in the 32nm chip.

Intel, already the largest graphics chip supplier in the world, will be competing against Nvidia’s higher-performance stand-alone GPUs and AMDs’ integrated CPU-GPU products and higher-performance standalone GPUs. This will be a tight fight, since a large number of lower end systems and notebooks are already running on Intel’s integrated graphics.

When the launch is made, almost every manufacturer in the world will come up with Sandy Bridge. HP, Dell, Apple, Sony, Acer, Lenovo, and Toshiba have all announced that they are up for it. Oddly, a talk to a friendly chap in local IT stores of Low Yat Plaza at KL reviews that Sandy Bridge chips and motherboards will be available as early as mid of December, which probably means that there’ll be some people breaking NDAs again this time. They say it’s probably as early as 5th of December, but I’ll take a pint of salt on that info.

Sony Reader app hitting iPhone and Android devices in December

Sony Reader app hitting iPhone and Android devices in December

Sony has a lineup of e-Readers just like Amazon has their Kindle and Barnes and Noble has their Nook Color. Since everyone has e-reading apps for Android and iOS platforms, Sony is also following the ship, with its own freshly announced Reader offering set for release next month.

Same thing as how Amazon does it, the new app will let you have access to books that you’ve already purchased at the Reader Store, or let you buy new ones. Making bookmarks and notes and highlights are all possible on your smartphones. There’s no mention of adjustable fonts and/or zoom in, but if it does, then your phone would probably be yet another mobile e-reader.
