Previously nobody knows how Top Gear picks their new Stig. Well, for fair comparison, they’ve only changed the Stig ones. This would be the second time. And as few weeks ago, many already know that BBC Top Gear has a Stig farm where new Stigs are bred, where they feed tonnes of Ruben Barrichello’s saliva to the Stig, and force them to watch F1 races every night. Let’s not forget that they’re genetically mutated with Michael Schumacher’s genes and Brad Pitt’s to begin with. Sadly though, not all grow up to be tame racing drivers though, with some being too violent and others seeming to suffer from the dulling effects of too much inbreeding. Read more…

Here comes the world’s fastest 1.8-inch SSD, and it’s not from your typical Kingston or Corsair or OCZ. It’s from Foremay, and their latest tiny SSD is capable of speeds reaching 280MB/s, with random read/write IOPS at 4KB up to 30,000/15,000, and jumbo capacity up to 400GB. Measuring at just 5mm thick, the slim storage device is capable of being deployed not only in high-end laptops, but also in industrial PC, HPC and enterprise servers. Unfortunately, there is no info on pricing at this moment.

You’ve seen transparent AMOLED displays, now we show to you flexible AMOLED displays! Samsung is set to unveil their latest flexible 4.5-inch AMOLED displays at the Flat Panel Display Convention in Japan. These new display panels are said to provide the same vividness and crispness as those used on the Galaxy S series smartphones. The new flexible AMOLED displays can bend and wrap around without distortion or breaking, and could possibly open up the gates to new forms of consumer electronics devices and applications. Just when you though Hyundai make great cars, now they’re ready to throw some nice computer monitors at you. Hyundai might not be famous in the IT world, but they’ve been making laptops and screens for some time now. Now, Hyundai IT has dropped another Full HD monitor for the European market namely the T270Wh. This new 27-inch widescreen monitor delivers 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 2ms response time and consumes just 45W during normal operation. In addition, it also comes with two built-in 2W speakers and has D-Sub, DVI and HDMI connectors. The Hyundai T270Wh sells for 420 Euro (about $592).

TN (Twisted nematic) panels are widely used because they’re cheap to produce, but when you want quality displays, IPS (In-plane switching) panel is the way to go. That’s because they improve on the poor viewing angle and the poor colour reproduction of TN panels LG has introduced the LG 21.5-inch IPS226V and 23-inch IPS236V IPS monitors at a press conference in Japan. Measuring at just 19.5mm thick, LG’s new IPS displays boast a 6ms response time, a 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution, a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, a 250 nits of brightness level, an HDMI port and a 178-degree viewing angles. The LG 21.5-inch IPS226V and 23-inch IPS236V will be launched in November and December 2010, respectively. Too bad, there is no info on pricing at this moment.

Samsung has just launch their Android-powered smartphone, the Galaxy S at Japan, and it has already outsold Apple’s iPhone in first week sales. The first time in 18 weeks that iPhone’s domination streak was broken. Admittedly the figures only reflect one week’s sales. Limited Edition Rams, what do they have that common rams don’t? Well, Kingston has rolled out a limited edition memory module in the form of Kingston HyperX Limited Edition DDR3-1600MHz 4GB kit. The dual-channel memory kit features black heat-spreaders and includes 2x 2GB modules (total of 4GB). The module also has 9-9-9-24 timing and 1.65v voltage. The Kingston HyperX Limited Edition DDR3-1600 MHz retails for $100 and comes with lifetime warranty. So I guess the ‘limited edition’-ness is the new black heat spreader?

Looks like a Lego right? Well, they aren’t. Aliph is back with their latest product in the form of the Jawbone Jambox Bluetooth speaker. The Jambox features a couple of high quality speakers that Jawbone claims to produce an audio spectrum as wide as the human ear itself. These speakers work together with an innovative moving-wall passive bass radiator to provide users with a much deeper bass. Available in blue, red, black, and gray, the Bluetooth speaker also features a 3.5mm jack, a built in microphone that can transform it into a speakerphone as well as support for Aliph’s MyTALK platform. Its battery is capable of providing enough juice for 8 to 10 hours of continuous partying. The Aliph Jawbone Jambox speaker is currently available for around $200 each. Read more…
