Shanghai Expo closes after six months and 72m visitors

Wow, what a big and long journey for China. Sure is a once-in-a-life-time experience for those who attended. Amazing yet crazy. If you ask someone who went to the Shanghai Expo, you’ll get funny reactions. Why? They’ll simply answer “Yes, it’s a great experience, and I’d regret if I didn’t go, but I don’t go again!” Rude and queue-cutting rural folks of China with bad ethics really tarnished the majestic event.

Acer Liquid Metal gets official in the UK with Android 2.2 and Breeze UI

Wow, Apple has finally gone and admits that they’ve been fiddling around with a miniature phone. They just made their Liquid Metal handset official. It’s a 3.6-inch baby phone running on Android 2.2 (too bad no Android 3.0) with a powerplant of an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 processor. Read more…

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

These days, every cool gadget will get some bling-bling from those companies that had too much crystal gems lying around. The iPhone got bling-bling-ed by a few companies, and now it’s the Galaxy Tab’s turn. Let’s just treat it as a status, now the Galaxy Tab is as luxurious as the iPhone.

Driverless electric van cruises 8,000 miles from Italy to China without stopping for some drinks

And Google was so proud of the 1,000 miles done by their driverless car. They sure got pawned so badly by Visilab. Visilab has just sent a pack of ugly orange electric vans down the road of Italy, all the way to China. No hands! Yes, there’s no driver behind any of them. Read more…

Android 2.1 starts rolling out to Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Android 2.1 starts rolling out to Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Wow, this sure has taken a very long time for Sony. Sony Ericsson has announced that it’ll begin delivering Android 2.1 upgrades to its X10 line of phones at long last this coming Sunday, October 31st — but odds are pretty good you won’t be in the first batch. In fact, only unbranded X10s, X10 Minis, and X10 Mini Pros in Nordic countries will be getting boosted at first, followed by “more kits” on Monday and throughout November. As a refresher, these updates will bring 720p video capture on the X10 proper (complete with continuous autofocus), a new backup / restore app, and a bunch of other tweaks that should make your classical X10 looks more ‘youthful’ and not so 2009! But I’d prefer if it’s Froyo instead.

Intel, Samsung, Toshiba form consortium aiming for 10nm chips by 2016

November 1st, 2010

Intel,

Intel, Samsung, and Toshiba are joining forces for R&D efforts in a consortium financed partly by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The government Ministry is pouring in an expected 50 percent, or 5 billion yen / US $62 million and the rest from the members. The goal is to develop semiconductor chips nearing 10nm by 2016. That’s 6 years’ time. Ten more companies are expected to be invited once things get sorted out. Wow, things will get very interesting once 10nm chips get into our devices.

Sony posts $852m profit thanks to PC and PS3

Wow, everyone seemed to be going great this year, at least in the silicon business (not implanting, but then again maybe too). Sony has just posted its second-quarter profit of ¥68.7b ($852m). That should be a massive improvement if compared to their previous quarter profit of $293m. Read more…

Asus throwing in at least 6 new tablets in Christmas?

Actually, I do think that Asus is abit late here, when we see so many companies launching their own version of the Android tablets. Jerry Shen, company president of Asus, stated that starting in December, ASUS will begin launching tablets in 7-, 9-, 10-, and 12-inch form factors. Gosh, that’s many! Do you need that many to kill Apple’s iPad, Asus? Read more…

Honda's ASIMO celebrates 10 years

Wow, Honda’s ASIMO is already 10 years old. Gosh, time flies. I still remember the time when Honda announced their first humanoid ASIMO. What a cool thing to look at back then when all you got is a Gundam Wing anime. To mark the occasion, Honda has rolled out a new website dedicated to the life and times of its humanoid robot. There are baby pictures, adorable stories and even a video or two to sink your teeth into, if you’re into that sort of robotic love. Read more…
