1mm Circuit Board Ceramic Speaker

As part of the collaboration between Kanagawa-based potter Mitsuke Masagasu and the Japanese design firm Nendo, the Circuit Board Ceramic Speaker is a high-end speaker that measures at just 1mm thin. The speaker is crafted to produce high-quality sound. Unfortunately, this speaker is only a concept at this time. They might not probably make it into production, but boy do they look pretty.

OCZ announces new extreme RAMs to have a good fight with the top dogs

OCZ has been rather busy with their SSD lately, but they’ve not abandoned what they do best, memory. The company has announced two new high-speed memory cards in the form of the Xtreme Thermal Exchange (XTE) and Blade 2. These memory cards provide the optimal balance of blazing DDR3 performance and cooling efficiency in one solution.

Available in 2400MHz and 2133MHz performance kits, the OCZ Blade 2 Series features a new finned anodized aluminium heat-sink design for superior thermal management. The OCZ Platinum XTE and Gold XTE Series will be available in premium 2133MHz, 2000MHz, and 1600MHz solutions, coupled with a sleek low-profile anodized aluminium heatspreader design to offset high temperatures that can damage DRAM ICs. OCZ’s XTE and Blade 2 triple-channel and dual-channel kits are available in PC3-19200, PC3-17000, PC3-16000, and PC3-12800 speed ratings, and are 100% hand-tested for quality assurance. This will probably give a good fight with Corsair’s Dominator GT and Kingston’s HyperX memories.

Zalman launches new CNPS5X CPU Cooler

Zalman launches new CNPS5X CPU Cooler

If you notice the number, it’s half of the top-notch CNPS10X, so this is designed for medium-thru-heavy thermal loads. This is somewhat a mix of between the traditional tower-type cooler, and Zalman’s own nested fan design heatsink. This is for a mild range overclocked system, not those extreme 4GHz Core i7 things. That’s probably why the company excluded support for LGA1366 for this reason, but oddly they added support for Intel’s upcoming LGA1155 socket, which is the Sandy Bridge platform. Other sockets supported include LGA1156, LGA775, and AM3/AM2+/AM2. Good that they didn’t abandoned AMD’s market. Read more…

Thermaltake announce new budget mid-tower casing

Thermaltake has released a new mid-tower case that they call it ‘an affordable PC casing’. Probably for those with tight budgets and yet wanna look cool. The Dokker has a top-mounted HDD single bay docking station, which should be great for young teenagers at college whom always swap their personal collections. You know what I mean. This dock allows the end-user to hot-swap a 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA drive without the need for additional hardware and software. Read more…

Kingston SSDNow S100 SSD

Here’s a new budget SSD from Kingston in the form of the SSDNOW S100. The storage device comes in a 2.5-inch SATA form-factor and supports SATA 3Gb/s interface. But with a storage capacity of 8GB or 16GB, you can’t really store a lot if you use this in your laptop. This would be good for those that want to try out SSD by using this as the boot drive, with the operating system installed in this drive.

The Kingston SSDNow S100 SSD offers a 90MB/s read speed and 30MB/s write speed (8GB model) or a 230MB/s read speed and 75MB/s write speed (16GB model). The 8GB model retails for $55, while the 16GB model is priced at $77. A very good option for first timer of SSD setup with a very tight budget.

Nokero N200 Solar-powered Light Bulb your new street light?

Nokero has introduced the N200 solar-powered light bulb. It is a small, lightweight and durable lighting solution that will allow users to enjoy a good level of lighting for very long periods of time, while in the same time keeping the environment clean. The Nokero N200 has three modes: On, Off, and Turbo-Task. The bulb can last six or more hours on one day’s charge, or 2.5 hours per night or more in Turbo-Task mode. What makes this light bulb special is that it also sports a rain-proof body, making it a great gadget for traveling to rural areas. Probably very good too for places where electricity does not exist. But it’s still not strong enough to be your street lamp, until somebody invented Super-LED bulbs that eat less juice at the same time.

Nook eBook gets a firmware update

Barnes & Noble has updated the firmware of the Nook eBook reader to version 1.5. The Nook eBook was launched earlier this year, and this new firmware will bring some refresh to the eBook. The firmware provides an increase of 50-percent on page refresh rates resulting in faster page turn, besides syncing across Nook apps, customizable folders, password protection, and improved search functions. It also enhances the battery life besides providing some performance boost. A reminder though, the firmware version 1.5 update is only compatible with both the 3G and WiFi only models of the reader.
