Kingston HyperX Max 3.0 External SSD

These days external storage manufacturers really love to mix solid state drive with USB 3.0 interface, and that’s a cool thing really. It makes them fast, and less noisy. Probably lighter and smaller to carry around too. Kingston has unveiled the Kingston HyperX Max 3.0 portable solid state drive, which is actually a Kingston SSDNow V+ solid-state drive repackaged in an aluminium enclosure with USB 3.0 connectivity. The storage device provides a fast 195MB/s read speed and 160MB/s write speed. Available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB of storage capacities, the Kingston HyperX Max 3.0 external SSD are priced at £125 ($199), £220 ($351) and £440 ($702), respectively.

Rumormill: Next Samsung Galaxy Tab to have a dual-core powerplant

Samsung might be making waves around the world with its latest Galaxy Tab, pitting it next to Apple’s famous tablet the iPad. However, rumour has it that Samsung is not resting and partying for the success that they have with the Tab. An unaccredited source told Digitmes about the Orion, which is probably the codename for the successor of the Galaxy Tab.

The Orion is rumoured to run on a dual-core Cortex A9 chip with 1GHz speed, as well as a quad-core Mali 400 GPU tagging along behind it. Thanks to that Mali 400, this Orion is able to encode and decode 1080p video, as well as outputting to HDMI. The organs of this monster actually made a debut at the Taiwanese ARM Technical Symposium last week, but Samsung did not comment what size the next-gen tablet will be.

LG's Blu Ray player first to get WiFi Direct certification

This sure is fast. Remember when we talked about WiFi Direct last month? Shortly over a month, and the list of devices certified is starting the get populated. LG’s BD960 Blu-ray player is the first to get into the block to get the WiFi Direct certification. This would hint strongly on direct P2P communication in your home theater living room. AirPlay? Others also can do it too!

Real Time Chinese Dictionary iPhone app now available

November 25th, 2010

It’s been quite some time since I last heard of this software, but now the Pleco 2.2 has finally manage to hit Apple’s App Store. The Pleco Chinese Dictionary is now available in the app store at version 2.2.1, supporting both fullscreen handwriting input and live camera-based character recognition. This’ll greatly help me out in getting some Chinese chicks.

Cool dude play MMO game on a super large screen

Cool dude play MMO game on a super large screen

Many nerds out there will be so envious of this guy for real. Your 103-inch Plasma TV is out of the league for this stunt move. Stadium display? Step aside please. Here’s a ‘real gamer’ doing it in style, playing MMO in a cool seven thousand and five hundred square meters display. The gentleman who has a very deep wallet (or probably wallet with no bottom floor) did it because he’s not happy with the fact that a competing guildmaster in the Chinese MMO Magic World Online 2 got to play the game in an IMAX theater, and thus decided to outdo him in a way that no other can (or very little can). He hired Beijing’s oversized display (titled “All Beijing, look up!” with some ‘small cash’ for some session of supersized gaming time.

Kuwait government bans DSLRs as a leisure thing

Kuwait government bans DSLRs as a leisure thing

I’m not sure how this happened, but apparently the Kuwait government has banned the recreational sue of Digital Single-Lens Reflex cameras. According to the Kuwait Times, The Ministries of Information, Social Affairs and Finance have collectively decided to ban the use of the chunky shooters in public places, except where it can be shown that it’s for journalistic purposes. This decision has left a lot of people scratching their heads, not least because every self-respecting smartphone nowadays can pump out screen-filling images. And then there’s also the matter of determining where the line between compact cameras, which are still allowed, and DSLRs resides. No love for photography as a hobby there. The person in charge must be awful in taking photography.

Now, what about those Canon G11s and Lumix G2?

Colorware makes your standout with your Neon color MacBook Air

Colorware makes your standout with your Neon color MacBook Air

Not quite sure why this service is offered. I mean, who would not love the MacBooks’ silver colour aluminium unibody which looks so classy? Makes it stands out from all those plastic colour notebooks. But then again this world is so huge that we cannot possibly please everyone’s taste of fashion and style. Probably there’s the need of being outstanding and individualistic. Yes, you need your very own status symbol hardware.

This is where Colorware enters. They’re asking for $1,850 (the minimum mind you) in exchange for a MacBook Air made in 2010 (yes the latest one), exactly to your chromatic specifications. Come on, we can mock and we can decry the price, but if this were ever within the disposable income portion of your budget, wouldn’t you jump at the opportunity? Alas, there’s no option for repainting an Air if you’ve already bought one, so whether you want the 11.6-inch or 13-inch version, you’ll have to buy it directly from Colorware. Yes, it’s available for both the 11.6-inch and the 13-inch. So hurry up and go make yourself occupied by playing around with the near-countless customization offered by Colorware.
