HP pulling away from Windows Home Server

When it comes to Windows server, HP would be a familiar name for the corporate. But sad news comes this time. HP, the maker of the MediaSmart boxes that somehow defined the first release of Windows Home Server, has confirmed that it is cancelling plans to support the next major release of the OS, codenamed Vail.

The reason of it is because of the removal of storage pooling from that release, which a very odd move is looking that HP has always been supporting the Windows Home Server market strongly. HP is promising to continue support for its existing MediaSmart products but apparently has already redeployed development teams to focus on WebOS devices. For its part, Microsoft will be relying on Acer and Tranquil PC to hang the decorations for the Vail release party.
