Google unveils Cr-48, the first Chrome OS laptop

Only for developers though. This is the same move that Google took when they launched Android, and I still think it’s a bloody good idea. It gives the developers a starting momentum to roll the apps. You won’t want your newly launched operating system to have no support from software developers, right? Google will distribute the laptop through its Chrome OS Pilot Program, in a sort of public beta. There’s no way to pay for the laptop at the moment. You join Google’s program, and they’ll send you this black book to you. Of course, the thing is limited.

Here’s some simple specs of the laptop that we have right now:
- 12.1-inch screen.
- Full size keyboard.
- Oversized clickpad.
- Qualcomm Gobi 3G chip for Verizon data in the US, your carrier of choice internationally.
- 802.11n dual-band WiFi.
- 8+ hours of active use.
- 8+ days of standby.
- Webcam.
- Flash storage.
