Next MacBook Pro might run red

All these while, we see Apple’s MacBooks running on Intel’s discreet graphics solutions, and current “Pro” versions still runs on Nvidia’s trusty GeForce. While the 13-inch models operate with an MCP, the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro line gets discrete Nvidia switchable graphics that are called into use when the integrated Intel HD graphics aren’t enough. But that’s about to change. Cnet reported that Apple might be divorcing with Nvidia very soon.
Intel is in preparation to introduce their new Sandy Bridge, and Apple is reported to be among the manufacturers that will be supporting Sandy Bridge platform once it becomes available. This supports Cnet’s report that Intel’s new integrated graphics from Sandy Bridge is far more capable than their current solutions, and will be implemented in a new way for new MacBooks. Then again, the report stated that Apple requires OpenCL and Intel still hasn’t support them in their new Sandy Bridge platform, so it might take some time before Sandy Bridge MacBooks get introduced.
But that is just the norm MacBooks. How about the “pro”? Well, Apple already switched over to the red camp in their latest iMacs which is running Radeon HD, and it’s plausible that the agreement could extend into the mobile space, which means literally that MacBook Pros getting AMD’s discreet graphics solutions.
