Motorola teases Honeycomb
How does a “Nexus M” tablet sound to you? Or probably… Let’s think about another cool name besides the Nexus, since Google might probably dedicate that to their smartphone lineup. It seemed that Motorola would be the company that Google will be working with for their upcoming Honeycomb update, specifically for tablets.
When Google started Android, they had HTC built them Nexus One for developers, and to start the snowball rolling for Android phones. Then the Nexus S by Samsung came to show how Android phones should be done, and probably to push the use of NFC and Google Place. So there’s no surprise if Google asked Motorola to develop a new tablet specifically for Google, and it’ll be loaded with Honeycomb.
And why are we saying this? That’s because Motorola’s new “Tablet Evolution” teaser video said so, probably. It calls the iPad a “giant iPhone” and says the Samsung Galaxy Tab is running Android “for a phone” before closing out with a buzzing bee over that new red Motorola logo. That certainly suggests some Honeycomb action to us — and it fits perfectly with Andy Rubin demonstrating the next-gen version of Android on a Motorola tablet back at D: Dive Into Mobile. So, let’s see what Google will show at CES 2011, since Sandy Bridge might not be THAT interesting anymore.
