Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2400 comparable with AMD Radeon HD 5450

Sandy Bridge will be coming in January (or already available if you’re in Malaysia), but what makes this Sandy girl so popular? Is it hyped up by Intel? The previous Arrandale generation already has graphics and memory controller fused with their processors, but they’re on 45nm technology. Sandy has its CPU and graphic core and memory controller fused together too, but on a 32nm technology. What makes it so special? Well, let the tablet below show you why.

Intel has always been crappy when it comes to integrated graphics. They’re not able to churn out smooth 1080P, and can’t even let you play some games decently. We’re obviously not talking about Crysis on embedded graphic, but games that aren’t that demanding on graphics, like Modern Warfare 2 and World of Warcraft those sort of games.

The performance of the Sandy bridge i5-2400 graphics seems to be on par or better than the ATI Radeon HD5450. It is significantly better than the HD graphics of the previous generation core i5 processor. The chart below compares the bench marking performance of Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2400 graphics with respect to the ATI Radeon HD5450 and core i5-540 HD graphics. The table compiles the gaming results for Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age Origins, Dawn of War II, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and BioShock 2. Dawn of War II might be quite intense at times, but a decent midrange card will easily run it smoothly. Same goes for Batman: Arkham Asylum and BioShock 2.
From the table, the results are very remarkable. Intel’s new girl Sandy seemed to be capable for a fight with AMD’s HD5450, which is obviously a low end graphic card. It might not win in every match, but the scores are very tight. Nevertheless, it totally put the previous Core i5-540 to shame.
