A summer jump

Winter’s coming up, and some of you might miss summer. Here’s a picture to remind you how fun it is. A ‘summer jump’ platform as some called it. It’s the Italian Trampoline, about 100 meters from the shore, near the city of Rhodes, Rhodes Island of Greece.

The effects of Whisky Dean

Sometimes, things go so wrong when you’re drunk. Like the dude above. He’s getting the wrong perception. But then again, people says that when you’re drunk, what you do reflects the real you. So… you get the drill. A very Manly Marilyn Monroe. This is so wrong, people!

Facebook’s global connection visualized

Paul Butler is an intern in Facebook, and he (probably nothing to do) has put together an image by feeding in location data for pairs of friends connection. The white lights represent cities, towns, and hamlets, and the blue streaks between them identifies relationships linking them. It’s awesome that it actually managed to plot down the world’s map, almost accurately.

Obviously missing is China which blocks Facebook, and Russia which has the LiveJournal system. You can see how heavy Facebook’s traffic is at East of US, and UK. But surprisingly South East Asia also has a strong Facebook presence.

Control the lights with your wrist, Kinect style goes big

How does controlling 85 colour-changing LED lights with your wrist feel like? Add a custom soundtrack to go with that. If you live in Lima, Peru, then probably you’ll have a chance to know. The picture you see above is the DJ Lights system. Yes, doing DJ with lights. The name says everything. the light-based, interactive art installation follows your gestures with a heat-sensitive camera placed above your head, and alters the DMX-controlled lighting and audio according to your movement. And despite the chilling atmosphere it creates, this is apparently part of a Christmas exhibit in Peru.

Zeus dancing in Athens

Here’s a reason why photography is awesome and a fun hobby. This photo was taken in Athens, at the parking lot of the Olympic Stadium. Zeus was probably playing around with chicks at that time. This composite shot took 30 minutes and 42 shots, taken using a Canon EOS 550D. that’s 51 lightnings, if you’re counting.

Photo setting: Canon EOS 550D, 28/6/2010 1:16 – 1:48, Shutter Speed 3.2 sec x 42 shots, Aperture Value 4.0, ISO 100, Lens Canon EF 15mm f/2.8, Focal Length 15.0 mm

Multiuser login for the iPad

And here I thought that the iPad is a very personal gadget, but sometimes you just had to share it with your family members. Don’t you feel irritated when the missus snatched off the iPad and use it for her KPH members’ gossip session at Facebook? When you get it back, you’re logged out of your Facebook, your Twitter, and probably everything else… or nearly. That’s why at times like this, the system above seemed like a dream.

Finally, one that comes with something more manly

Kiddy style rubber wraps are not your cup of tea? No problem, here’s a rugged watch strap for your new iPod Nano. Wrapped with pure leather, Elecom’s retro-outdoorsman straps come in brown or black, and look a little more durable than those cheapo neon plastics and flimsy nylons versions. The strap comes with a MSRP of $43, and adds some manliness to your first impression score. But of course, you can always have a few around and swap them according to your mood too.
