Yamaha’s new 3D Digital Sound Projector will blow you away, as well as your wallet

When you have an 80-inch 3D TV at home, you really have your bragging rights. Those 3D active shuttle glasses look really sweet. But then you still lack of something. That some sound, which makes all the explosions and bullets and moaning more realistic and 3D.

That’s why you need this Yamaha YSP-2200 to further boost your ego. This “3D” home theatre sound system comes with soundbars at 3.5-inch tall, but the important thing here is the 16 speaker beam drivers that support 7.1 surround sound, 11 Cinema PSD programs, and full internal decoding of DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD. Yamaha has also fitted four HDMI 1.4a inputs and a single output, which makes them very capable of handling any 3D Blu-ray content to date.

Yes, the Yamaha YSP-2200 is one very bombastic sound system, but the price that Yamaha is asking is also rather bombastic, at USD 999.95. Then again, bragging rights never come cheap.

Shogun Bros. announces the very unsuspecting Chameleon X-1 Mouse

Shogun Bros. announces the very unsuspecting Chameleon X-1 Mouse

Here’s a rather unsuspecting mouse. The Chameleon X-1 from Shogun Bros. is a very simple mouse, if you think a wireless mouse with some chrome-like styling looks simple. Indeed they are. But when mum is out of the room, you can easily flip it up, and continue playing your Mario Bros. that’s because the bottom of the mouse not only house the 1600dpi optical sensor, it also houses 14 buttons. Yes, the “select” and “start” look awfully familiar. There’s also 7 buttons on the top, but I don’t think you’d care really, since you’re busy playing your Mario and spying on whether mum will be entering the room again. But the good thing is that this is a wireless mouse with a USB 2.4GHz wireless dongle, so you shouldn’t have any problem with snakes and ladders. Sadly, there’s no pricing on this mouse cum PC gamepad, so you can only dream of dad buying you this as Christmas present.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab gets the “limited edition” treatment, more to come

Samsung has announced a new ‘limited edition’ Galaxy Tab at the Millionaire Fair. Called the Galaxy Tab Luxury Edition, they repackaged the tablet with an exclusive leather case and a Bluetooth headset. They’ve also chosen a black box to portray a more luxury feel for their buyers. Sadly though, the tablet’s spec hasn’t been changed a bit. You’re still getting the same 7-inch tablet with Froyo, the same 1GHz processor, and the rest of the suspects. Then again, you’re paying a premium price of €749 (about $990) just for that black packaging. It’s selling from December 15th, 2010 until January 31th, 2010, so you should grab fast if you want this ‘limited edition’ Tab.

Kingston shows off new erasers with a USB port

Kingston has launched a new model for their renowned DataTraveler lineup, called the Mini Fun G2. As the name hinted, it is indeed small in package. The miniature thumb drives are encapsulated in rugged silicon rubber housing with some ‘funky’ colouring, if you call that funky. They come in the size of 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities, and still run the good ol’ USB 2.0 interface. Good thing though is that they come with a five-year warranty. The 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models are priced at 5.43 Euro (about $7), 5.54 Euro (about $8) and 10.43 Euro (about $14), respectively. Though, it’s rather disappointing that they don’t come in Santa colours.

December 14th, 2010

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

Century Japan has unveiled a new super-combo external hard drive bay called the Century Razoku Line CRIB535EUF. It’s essentially a bay that can house five hot-swappable 3.5-inch SATA hard disks, so you can change your hard disks easily without needing to mingle around in your computer’s chassis. More so if you chassis are rather complicated, though these days you can easily find new portable and compact 1TB external drives at the size of 2.5-inch.

The bay measures at 5.1-inch x 7.3-inch x 10.2-inch and weighing 7.3 lbs, the storage device supports hard drives of up to 3TB per bay for a total of up to 15TB of storage space. Luckily the Century Razoku Line CRIB535EUF also provides a USB 3.0, Firewire and eSATA ports for a high speed transfer rate, so that you don’t have to wait the whole day for your data to get transferred. The drive is cooled with a couple of 60mm cooling fans to make those metal bricks chilled at all times.

The Century Razoku Line CRIB535EUF is compatible with the Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP and Mac OS X.

Thrustmaster T500RS is the official wheel for GT5?

All this while, Logitech has been building wheels in conjunction to Gran Turismo series, but this time however, Thrustmaster seemed to have secured the license for the franchise. The wheel, called T500RS, is promised to have unrivalled accuracy and what looks to be the same magnetic sensor technology used in the company’s ‘renowned’ HOTS Warthog controller. The wheel is expected to carry similar price with the later controller too, without the optional H-pattern shifter though. Expect to see the real deal at CES.

Radeon HD 6970 slower than GeForce GTX 580, will be slightly cheaper

Radeon HD 6970 slower than GeForce GTX 580, will be slightly cheaperNews has it that AMD’s new Cayman cards will be ready for unveiling in the third week, which is around next week. However, initial shipment volumes of the HD 6970 and HD 6950 will be very limited.

However, Digitimes cited sources saying that testing units scored lower than Nvidia’s latest flagship, thus AMD will be marking the price of the HD 6970 with an MSRP slightly lower than Nvidia’s top dog, by around USD 50-70 to cover up for the disadvantage.

Acer’s dual screen laptop ain’t going to be cheap, priced at €1,499

Acer’s dual screen laptop ain’t going to be cheap, priced at €1,499

We finally see a proper date for Acer’s dual-screen Iconia laptop. They’ll be coming in January 28, at least in UK. Acer’s squad in Spain mentioned a hefty €1,499, which is around USD 1,999. Will indeed humiliate any notebooks out there that still has a keyboard, but then the price doesn’t really judge the fight well. We’re still looking at a laptop with Core i5 CPU, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 750GB of storage, an optional 3G module, and — lest we forget — a USB 3.0 port. But then again, you got two screens to play with.

Snow globes that tells the story of the short old man

Snow globes that tells the story of the short old man

Your ordinary snow globe has an ugly character placed in there, with foil confetti floating around. Meaningless, and probably scares the shit out of the kids that don’t even know a thing or two about snow globes besides throwing them around. But here are 14 snow globes that make some differences. There are cultures and stories behind each of these ‘all year snowing artwork’ that talks about the Nisse. You know, midget elderly man that looks like Hobbits.

At this cyber age, nobody seemed to even care about the Nisse folks-tale anymore. I won’t be surprised if many don’t believe in Santa anymore. That’s why this year’s x-mas workshop at DAC has the topic of Nisse, and their ‘imaginary’ lives, represented in these fourteen snow globes.
