Few years ago, old-school clamshell was quite a hit in Japan, as the Japanese companies are busy churning out clamshell phones. But these days everything is about touchscreen, thus we rarely see clamshell phones. There’s a reason why you touchscreen smartphones in oversized yet super-slim candybar phones with no buttons, and it’s because when your entire UI is touch-centric, putting the screen a few inches away from the user’s thumb is a usability nightmare waiting to happen. Graphic cards of computer have come a long way. Last time when 3DMark was released, it was a graphic card killer. Then come Vantage and Crysis. Till now the only apps/games that can actually kill the latest graphic card is Metro 2033, and yet you can still get decent results if you have a tri-SLI GTX 580 with an overclocked Core i7. But now, the much awaited 3DMark 11 will be the latest for graphic cards to crunch, until Crysis 2 is out. 3DMark series has been a very popular benchmark, and now Futuremark has launched the 3DMark 11 which will contend as the best graphic benchmark for the year 2011. Obviously, there will be a free edition and the usual paid versions as usual by Futuremark. Here’s a new external HDD rack from Novac. The NV-HS402U3S is a high-speed HDD rack that features four 3.5-inch hard drive slots with a number of fans to keep the bricks cool at every time. The rack also features USB 3.0 port and eSATA compatibility to speed up your file transfer if ever needed. Novac will release the NV-HS402U3S on December 17th, 2010 in Japan for 17,800 Yen ($215).

SSD drives have been awesome as they’re lightning fast and durable, but sometimes you’ll get the rather rare failures of SSD, like bits fail, data error and corruption, and deterioration of bytes. That’s why the famous mighty SandForce will at times get some hate mails for breaking down an SSD due to the bugs that it has, and shouldering too much loads on its own. That’s why Micron has developed this new ClearNAND chips.

They’re meant to offload some loads of the memory controller like SandForce. The ClearNAND chip has a 24-bit error correction engine, so your drive’s host controller doesn’t have to shoulder that much amount of load, and do its work swiftly. This just made the SSD a whole lot more awesome than it ever been. Micron says the new chips are available right now in 25nm sizes.

Here’s an all-in-one PC from HP, and it’s specifically for the Indian market. HP India has launched the HP DreamScreem 400 in that country, and you shouldn’t mistake this for yet another all-in-one PC like the rest. Yes, the 18.5-inch screen is a touchscreen display, and it’s powered by an unknown Intel processor, and has a built-in DVD optical drive. But the resemblance ends there.

This thing comes with an enhanced HP-flavoured touch interface (rumoured to be based on Linux), it’s designed for education, deliver news and entertainment, link families, enrich spiritual life and access the web via a simple touch interface. It is expected to be available in India later this month at approximately 700 outlets across 60 cities in the country for Rs. 19,999 or around $450.

Point of View (POV) and TGT have teamed up to offer their first water-cooled graphics card, in the form of the latest GeForce GTX 580. They called it the GeForce GTX 580 ‘Beast’. Specs-wise, the card integrates 512 CUDA cores, a GPU clock of 855MHz (compared to stock of 772MHz), a shader clock of 1710MHz, a 1536MB of GDDR5 memory set @ 4104MHz (stock is at 4005MHz) and comes with a 9mm slim-line water-cooling block from Aqua Computer. The Water-Cooled GeForce GTX 580 ‘Beast’ retails for 729 Euro (about $978). That pretty much makes it one of the most expensive GeForce GTX 580 out there. For comparison, the EVGA GTX 580 FTW Hydro Copper 2 is factory overclocked to 850MHz for GPU, and has a memory clock speed of 4196MHz, at the cost of only USD 699.

Dell has launched a new all-in-one desktop for the mass market, by introducing the new Inspiron One 2310 AI45T-R. Picking a fight with Apple’s Mac desktop system, this new Dell sports a 23-inch display with LED-backlit technology, and has a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution. As a space-saving machine, all the gears are common specs found in laptop, and are squeezed into the back of the display.

The computer sports a 2.4GHz Intel Core i3-370M processor, an Intel graphics HD, a 4GB DDR3 RAM, a 500GB hard drive, a 2.0-megapixel webcam, a DVD burner, a TV tuner, WiFi, an HDMI port and is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS. Pricing info is still unknown at the moment, but do expect them to be available before Christmas.
