One million Galaxy Tab units globally
December 6th, 2010
Samsung has just reported that they’ve managed to break through the one million unit mark in global sales for their ‘iPad killer’, the 7-inch Android tablet Galaxy Tab. That’s quite a remarkable achievement as the outfit only sold 600,000 as of November 22nd. That’s some 400,000 bounce up in a few weeks’ time. The firm is now in aim of the 1.5 million mark before the party pops for New Year’s Eve. While that number is nothing when compared to the slightly bigger competitor the iPad which to date has sold over 7 million units, that is still some very remarkable sales number. The Nook Color may still be an e-reader, but now that it’s getting an official SDK add-on for the Android SDK, we’re not sure if it’s still a simple e-reader. That comes complete with an Android Virtual Device emulator, Android Debug Bridge (or ADB) configuration settings, sample code and, of course, plenty of documentation to get you started. Of particular note, that finally includes a complete specifications list, which confirms once more that the device runs on an 800MHz TI OMAP 3621 processor, and is backed up by a POWERVR SGX530 GPU. Rumors have it that Google will be holding a press conference on Tuesday, December 7 to talk about something Chrome-related, and a very big chance that it’ll be the Chrome OS and netbooks. However, there will only be around 65,000 units of Chrome OS netbook available to Google’s closest “friends and family” — and that the Cloud-based OS is still very much in a beta, non-consumer-friendly state. We’ll only know whether it’s true or not when the event goes live. SOURCE via Engadget Chrome to Windows Phone 7 now ready to pull some pages to your phone
December 6th, 2010
The Chrome to Windows Phone 7 is actually an app that’s already approved and just waiting for your download, if you happen to own any Windows Phone 7 handset. It functions just as the name says, by pulling the pages from your desktop’s Chrome browser to your Windows Phone 7, just like how the Firefox Home for iPhone works. Once you download both this app and the applicable Chrome extension, a quick click on the Windows logo in your otherwise Google browser will send links or selected text to your Microsoft mobile. People these days do not just go around screaming when they’re a fan (unless you’re a certain JB’s fan), as a designer who is also a Tron’s fan (should be) has dreamed up and designed the Tron Armchair, inspired by the upcoming movie itself. Dror Benshetrit’s Tron Amrchair debuted this week at Design Miami / Art Basel. The chair is made of “impregnated fiberglass and polyester resin”, but we still do not know how much this fiberglass and polyester resin chair cost. Dror’s mission is to articulate the complex meaning of objects in the simplest of ways. Their uses become a part of their narratives, expressed in transformations that are both metaphorical and literal. Raw Data forms a jagged and angular landscape, serving as a muse for a chair that is comprised of intersecting layers and textures of ‘digital’ rock. Constructed of composite material consisting of impregnated fiberglass with polyester resin processed with manual layering, these Special Production Walt Disney Signature TRON Armchairs invite you to “sit off the grid.” SOURCE via Core77 Frontal Concepts is probably the only rubber strap that you’ll want
December 6th, 2010
We’ve seen quite a number of Apple’s iPod nano 6G turned into watches, but who has the best design thus far? Most of them are just simple watch strap, but this new Frontal Concepts from the Australian outfit has more than just a simple rubber band with your iPod on it. Rather than just looping a band through the device’s rear clip, the Infuse strap actually has a simple, one-click locking mechanism to keep your digital timepiece in position. It’s also positioned to allow the audio cord to run upwards along the arm, and it’s built from polycarbonate plastics and silicone — plenty tough to withstand the occasional gym visit. The Frontal Concepts is not actually a concept, but a real product that’s coming to the US in a week’s time, and you can actually pre-order yours today for USD 24.95. We’ve been teased with quite a number of Nexus S’s info, but we’ve yet to see the camera’s ability when it comes to point-and-shoot. Thanks to an unsuspecting Picasa stream, we’re now being treated to a handful of images captured by a Samsung GT-I9020, aka the Nexus S. there’s even a video of some spinning thing, taken using the Nexus S. Lufthansa launches in-flight WiFi on intercontinental flights

December 6th, 2010
The name Fatal1ty has been missing in the hardware market for quite some time after the exit of Abit from the motherboard industry. But now, it seemed that the gaming sensation superstar is back with a photo of him carrying a motherboard with the “Fatal1ty” wording.
