World’s longest bridge is long!

Stretching 26.4 miles across the sea, and completed in just four years, this brand new Qingdao Haiwan Bridge connecting the Chinese cities Qingdao and Huangdao took 10,000 workers to complete in a 24/7 schedule. $8 billion might sound like a scary amount of budget, but it’s not when you consider how long this thing is. The previous record-holder, Louisiana’s Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, is all of three miles shorter.

There are six lanes here. So, let me guess. A lane for the busses and taxis, a lane for the kids’ bicycle and some bikers, a lane for mum to drive the kids to the other side for lunch and tuition, two more lanes for the aggressive office workers that are always late for work. Well, there’s one more lane left! Right, let me schedule a trip to steal a Bugatti Veryon Super Sport from Sheik Allah Bin Shopping and ride at there every day with top speed of 260mph. Awesome. It’ll also be a good jog back home too when I run out of fuel half way across the sea.
