Pagani Huayra goes official

After hearing that Mercedes Benz has been working on the gullwing SLS AMG, Pagani has been heavily active back at the drawing board to find something to play with. The new supercar has been spotted few times doing some rounds, but we’ve never seen it officially with all its mock clothes off, but now Pagani has officially unveiled its latest baby, the Huayra.

The front does look like a stingray, with the very awkward bottom-feeder fascia up front, and a pair of very tall side mirrors. Other than that, the body does resemble a Zonda but with some improved lines and curves. Even the back looks very alike a Zonda, with its quad-exhaust at the centre of the butt.

All these said nobody really cares about the body looks like (though I still think it’s filthily ugly). The important thing is what lies under the hood. Mercedes-Benz AMG-built 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine will bring the Huayra close to 230 miles per hour mark (370 kilometres per hour). Yes, it’s that bizarre. Pop the hood, and you’ll see over 700 ponies that’s capable of 740 pound-feet of torque (that’s about 950nm of torque there) through a new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Couple that with a weight of just less than 3,000 pounds – aided by copious amounts of carbon fiber, and you’ll have a fire-spitting rear-wheel drive angry stingray.

Yet with all that raw power, you still get quite some luxury touches inside, including a cockpit slathered in beautiful hides and exposed aluminum and carbon fiber. You’ll also bask in the glowing blue gauges and multi-function display that controls audio, navigation and communications gadgetry.
