Microsoft releases OneNote app for iPhone, free for a 'limited time'

Microsoft releases OneNote app for iPhone, free for a 'limited time'

Now this comes as a surprise. Who would’ve thought that the company that developed Windows Phone 7 to fight with iOS would actually port over their famous OneNote app over to the iPhone? As with the Windows Phone 7 app (previously the only mobile version), the iPhone app will let you manage notes and shopping lists (and even add pictures taken with the iPhone’s camera), and then sync those with Windows Live SkyDrive so you can access them in either the Windows desktop application or its web-based counterpart. Funnily, Microsoft stated that the OneNote app is the culmination of some 18 to 24 months of development from a team of Microsoft Mac Office and OneNote engineers, which is either a sign of some serious slacking or a fairly significant commitment on Microsoft’s part. With this, I can safely say that it might even be going to the iPad very soon. No word on when the “limited” free period will run out (so you’ll probably want to grab it while you can), nor is there any world on a worldwide release — it’s currently only available to US users, unfortunately.

HTML5 gets a proper logo

I’m not sure if you know what HTML5 is, or you’d probably be surprise of the suffix “5” there. “What? Since when HTML has versions?” Right… HTML5 has been a rather awesome revision of the open web standard, and now its parent organization, the W3C has finally given a dedicated logo to HTML5. Here’s the poem that’s tagged along with the logo, by W3C. And I though nerds only do coding.

Sony will unveil new PSP next week, PSP Phone next month?

We’ve heard and seen enough of the PlayStation Phone, but finally someone steps up and tells us when it’s coming. This might not be official, but Bloomberg has a source saying that Sony Computer Entertainment’s Tokyo event on January 27th is indeed the platform from which it’ll unveil the next PSP, and next month at Mobile World is where we will be able to officially speak of the PSP Phone. Next week’s press conference will also reportedly “outline a strategy to use its networked entertainment services to share games, movies and music among handheld products, TVs and other devices.” Well, at least now we have a proper date to check.

Colorful and funky NoteSlate e-Reader with E-Ink coming this June?

All these while we’ve seen a huge number of e-readers, but they’re dull. Mono-color fonts and dull interface, with a very typical design, at times life needs some rainbow too. What you really need is this NoteSlate. Well, frankly it doesn’t have a million colors, but at least this 13-inch diagonal e-Reader does have some funky colors to spice up your reading experience. Harvard University controls worm with laser, Worms Armageddon coming soon

Researchers at Harvard University’s Center For Brain Science have effectively controlled nematode C. elegans worms, and we wonder why they do that. The researchers managed to do so by genetically modifying a select few of their 302 neurons. They are then controlled through linking to the CoLBeRT system, which controls their locomotion and behaviour in real time. Read more…

White iPhone 4 listed in Best Buy US inventory system

White iPhone 4 listed in Best Buy US inventory system

It looks like the White iPhone 4 tale is indeed a real deal for this spring. Previously we’ve seen them listed in Vodafone Germany inventory, but now it’s also showing up in Best Buy US’s inventory system. But that’s not all. This time, these listings also show a specific in-stock date of February 27th and, for what it’s worth, the model numbers match those that first turned up in Best Buy’s system when it was originally taking pre-orders for the difficult-to-manufacture phone. Well, we’ve not heard of Apple pushing back again that “spring 2011” date have we? Let’s just forget that Apple’s going to launch a new iPhone with dual-core A5 chip this summer, and droll over this Snow White.

HP’s webOS tablet render and spec leaked

Remember when we saw the video of HP stating webOS in smartphones, tablets, and netbooks? We’re shock about the netbook, but there’s no mention of a webOS tablet before too. Now it’s time to talk about it. HP Slate running Windows 7? Meh, that’s old news. This time they’re (yes, there’s not one, but two) coming in the form of some gems. Read more…
